OK... I just read through all 16 pages of this thread and I still seem to be missing something.

I am concedering, once, I figure this out to write a post up with screen shots to follow for people like myself who are just not getting it. ::frust

    Anywho,

OK... so this is what I am doing.

    1. Go Catalog -> Attribute Controller
(WARNING message comes up tell you: No option names have been defined)

    2. Under Option Name (en: ########################################____ )
I type in the word "Color"

    3. Option type select "Dropdown"

    4. Hit Insert

    Next Step:

    5. Hit "Option Values" right above the box I entered Step One in.

    6. Option Value ( en:##############################___ )
    I type in "Black"

    7. Leave Order box blank, and select "Insert"

    8. Then I am given the choice to enter a second value. Since this is a dropdown I no do Steps 6 & 7 again, but this time I enter "Blue".
(( I have more colors I need to enter, but we will just do these for now))

    Next Step:

    9. Select "Attribute Controller" l Screen Shot

    10. Then I must Select a Catagory with Products. One with the ( * ) symbol next to it. So, I do.

    11. I then see this screen: Scrren Shot

I highlight the product I am wanting the Attribute for and select Display.

    12. Which then brings me to this: Scrren Shot

    13. I then highlight the name (i have tried highlighting and no highlighting), and select "Insert"

    14. Which then gives me this error message at the top
"Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match - Attribute was not added - : TEXT"

Now, I think this may be caused by this here: Scrren Shot

But, I did not enter it to be there. Like I said, I have read all through these pages, plus did a search, but I think I am missing something.... I have even gone back to try and edit the product itself with no success.

    Please Help!!

Before hitting insert ... pick the Option Name and Option Value to insert.

In this case, Color and Black or Blue are your choices.

WOW it must ding in your head everytime someone responds to this post. Never have I ever been to a message board where one of the main owners, founders, admins, or what have you as responded.

However from the time I posted this til now, I re-read the Attribute instructions under the FAQ's, and now realised when on the "Add Attribute" screen, not only do i highlight the name, but I hightlight the value as well... just like you posted.

I guess I assumed, since it already had the name in the [___] it would automaticly know to use those, and then re-write or not use if that attribute was already there.

What a waste of time on my part to make those screen shots ::frust ::frust ::frust

Now question, do i have to highlight the values and insert them one at a time, or can I Ctrl Click to highlight all the values I want to add to a certain product???

    Thanks Again.

I have been here in this community for a few days now, and am amazed by all the help I have received. And this coming from someone who use to have alot to do, reading and helping when I could on some of the phpNuke community Resource sites...

    Thanks

It is designed for 1 at a time right now ...

But if you backup your database ...

There are some settings on either the Option Names Manager or Option Values Manager for adding all Options to an Option Name where at least 1 value exists.

This works well as a quick method.

Also, if there are particular configurations you use ... there is the Copy Attributes from 1 product to another product, category or whole shop.

Be sure to backup before experimenting :)

My Attributes Text Value has dissapeared! I have the display order set to 4=Element Below Image and Option Name - The picture will display with a Radio Button but the Text value is gone (i.e. the words yellow, pink and blue should appear under the colors...)

Searched for help - guess no one else is this stupid. Can't for the life of me figure this out!

A picture is worth a thousand words!

Thanks - It's amazing that something this stupid is my first post - I have been able to find a ton of help so far on countless things...
