Sub Categories DON"T display in side menu

Hello,

I have been trying to find solution to my issue.

Basically, my side menu is displaying categories. When CLICKED on it used to then show the subcategories under selected category. This is only working on SOME categories displaying sub categories.

Click on some of the lower categories on the side menu and you will see the sub categories appear. You will also notice on these categories that sub categories also appear on the MAIN page to be selected ie Women or Men.

Birkenstock for example should have sub categories Men and Women.. but these no longer load? it just loads all the products from BOTH sub categories.

Using 1.3.9h

admin > catalog > Product listing > Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating is set to 1.

admin > Layout settings > Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories set to 1

Hoping this is clear enough.

It's so odd that it works on some but not others.

I have tried to look for differences between a and working category and a non working and can't see a difference other than more products?

Help appreciated.

It appears that you have put products directly in the top category of most of the categories that also have subs. This will cause problems in searches and other things, as well as what you have observed: categories with products will not display subcat listings, only product listings. There is no template file that is built to display both product listings and subcat listings.

Thanks for the response.

Thing is.. I have not created ANY products into category and sub category root...

Each Category was created. Then each sub category next.

THEN products were added inside the sub category area.

Some products are linked to other sub categories products.

ALL has been working and displaying correctly for over a year. I only noticed the issue recently. I upgraded to 1.3.9h about a month or so ago.

I noticed that the header dropdown menu shows all of the subcats, and causes correct sidebox subcat display when a subcat is clicked. Both menus cause the top cat in the sidebox to show unexpanded and unselected when the top cat is clicked, which is incorrect. I wonder if it has something to do with your SEO mod? What happens if you turn that off?

Yes top Css menu works fine.

Disabled Ceon URI Mapping module and then sub cat menu's work again.

So will look into thread for that mod see if anyone else experienced and resolved the issue.
