Zen cart installation / maintenance / customisation / hosting
Supported Modules: Dutch language pack, Multi site, Dynamic Price Updater and more.
embryo,
I have added extra fields (not the ones in the module, I renamed them) by copying this module from Numinix as a template. It is very easy if you follw the instructions and really does not take that long. I am not a php programmer, just a business owner, so if I can manage it I am sure you can.
I have used the Product code (MPN) field for my own purposes so will now be recreating another field to achieve this MPN for google. Just need to understand how to map it back into the Froogle Base feeder.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes
Thanks MikeyG, but what I'm concerned about is that it will be necessary to do it again and again with each future zencart update....right?
If Zencart would release an update including the new fields, then there'd be no worry about it "sticking" with future updates...
Steve
embryo,
I agree and understand where you are coming from. I guess 2 things are needed here one is a simple user friendly way to add fields. i.e you name a field and it installs it through out zencart updating database and making it available on the product pages to display and populate. The second here is for the google froogle base feed to have a user friendly mapping feature allowing you to make these available to the feed and for you to be able to tell it what the google xml tag is.
I have worked out the mapping as well now so once done once to be honest it means that if google need more it's not too bad to replicate.
numinix has a new version of his extra fields which gives you a whole load more fields and easy to add too. A big thanks to him for that and once you look at the main frooglefeed.php file you can copy the format for any of these fields into the feed.
If you need more pointers just ask.
