How Did You Hear About Us? mod

I see there is a giant, long thread about this mod with something like 28 pages of replies. I did read them. Still can't solve the problem so whether it is correct protocol or not I am starting a new thread about my problem. :)
I installed the mod "How Did You Hear About Us" from http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=186
No problems with install, no problems with getting it to show when customer creates an acct. Everything seems to be there and working fine. The issue is that the collected referral sources are not showing anywhere. Not on the admin>customer> CUSTOMER and not in Extra>Referral Sources.
Anyone have a solution to this? As far as I can tell I installed all the files correctly. The site is hoopclothes dot com, 1.3.9d.

Yes, you should upgrade to 1.3.9h -there are many fixes that might help.

Yes, you should have posted in the mod's thread as the folks that developed/use it monitor the thread and can be of better help.

Yes, you should check the cache directory in the cart's root to see if there are any debug files that might give you a clue.

However, this does not solve my problem. I appreciate that upgrading a couple letters might solve a problem here or there, but for right now I would really rather just get the module working with 1.3.9d. I have heard this upgrade and it'll fix everything a few times in the past. Yet every problem I have ever had was solved without upgrading and instead with simple edits to the files.

I know I am not the only on with problems getting this mod to work. Does anyone have a solution that worked for them? Please? I did not post in the 28 page long thread as it was several years old and I was hoping that some new info. had come to light since that time. I have not found anything in the debug/cache files that gives me a clue.

The mod appears to be working as I said before. The how did you hear about us shows up in create acct., but the data is going no where. Everytime I create a new account I get another tick on Referral Sources>other no matter what I choose. When I double click other there are no other sources listed. Go figure?

Anyone RECENTLY get this mod to work? Thanks in advance!

There are safety and operational updates in the latest upgrades. If you are not concerned with safety....

You still have apparently not looked in the cache folder for a DEBUG file or you are keeping the results of your visit a secret.

Someone in the actual thread might have an answer or pertinent question like, "how did you install the .sql file?" The thread is for answers by those familiar with the mod.

Someone not familiar with the mod should not be expected to learn it to help you without being compensated for their time. Everyone here is a volunteer and monitor the areas in which they are willing and able to help. Posting elsewhere is like asking the plumber to fix your ceiling fan. Heaven forbid it runs backwards after the fix.

Ok dbltoe. I do tend to go through keyboards. ha! I will move my question to the old mod thread. Sorry to be a nuisance.

Of course I am concerned with security. I have fear of upgrading. I am nearly sure I would mess something else up doing that since as you can tell I know not a lot about what I am doing. And that those newly messed up things would take a lot longer than fixing the problem with this mod.

I don't know where to look for the debug file. I looked in the Cache file and there are a few files - myDEBUG-####s.log newest one is 5/11 which was before I installed this mod. There are also some files that start with zc_#####.sql
And I installed the sql through the Tools>install SQL patches and uploading the file.

There should be no .sql files in the cache directory.

Post the contents of the debug file here.

Yes, actually that could account for the sql files. I changed the configure files a while ago battling another issue. Since there aren't any .sql files older than today I guess its ok to leave them there.

I've got this installed on a few sites and I just installed it on an unmodified store with a straight upload. It works as it should, no problems. Perhaps your problem results from merging the files?
