Currently, you could use the TEXT attributes for this, but there is no calculation or measurement to that feature for what you are trying to do.

This would just give you the values as entered by the customer, in a text format.
This is what I have tried to do. The customer does enter their own measurements.

The problem I am having is that when I create the Option Name and set up the type, etc. then go to the Attribute Controller to apply the Options - nothing shows up under "Select an Option Name". I have also tried using the Option ID - still nothing to select from in the Attributes Controller. I have also entered various names: Color, Size, etc just to see what I might could get to show up. So far, blank boxes.....

Not sure what I'm doing wrong..... ::frust

    Let's define "the same problem"
Linda Thanks again for your reply, when I say same problems I'm referring to my previous post:

1 files are loaded into the /download directory
    YES

    2 /pub is set to 77
    YES

3 if in windows Redirect is OFF
    Sorry where is this done?

4 if in unix Redirect is ON
    Sorry where is this done?

5 The Option Name for the download is set to Radio Button or Dropdown
    Radio Button

6 When you add the download to the Attribute you see the green dot
    YES

7 The filename does not contain special characters or spaces and preferrably is a zip
    ZenCarts own Test.zip file

8 you have the download in the /download direct and not in a subdirectory
    As above

    What error are you receiving?
None, go to open the file and says zip file is corrupt.

Can the attribute be added to the shopping cart?
    YES

    Can you checkout?
    YES

Does it say the download is available or unavailable?
    Available

Do you have a link to start the download?
    YES

    Thanks

drmphotos ... the Redirect is under the Attribute settings.

Check that the test.zip file is a valid zip and is not corrupt.

McGyver ... You created an Option Name that is set to be a Radio Button.

Did you also create an Option Value to match to the Option Name?

That's the next wall I've run into....

I attempted to create an option named "Text". I went with the defaults of 32 for "Size" and "Max". When I go to the "Attributes Controller" it shows the "Option Name" as "Text [text]". Under "Option Value" it shows "TEXT (Reserved for Text/Files Only Attributes)". It won't let me enter/edit anything.

The person I'm doing this for wants something like this:

What is your first spring hole to spring hole measurement?
[Box Here for customer-entered measurement] (Required)

What is your second spring hole to spring hole measurement?
[Box Here for customer-entered measurement] (Required)

What is your third spring hole to spring hole measurement?
[Box Here for customer-entered measurement] (Required)

What is your fourth spring hole to spring hole measurement?
[Box Here for customer-entered measurement] (Required)

What is the total number of spring holes in your frame?
[Box Here for customer-entered measurement] (Required)

What is the total length of spring?
[Box Here for customer-entered measurement] (Required)

I'm new to ZenCart, and to this point, the "Attributes Controller" documentation hasn't helped me a whole lot. It seems to be written for someone who has used the software before or is only trying to do ordinary (Size/Color/etc) things with it. I'm (apparently) trying to do something out of the ordinary and since I haven't seen the "Attributes" feature work successfully I'm pretty much in the dark as to how to make it work.

Again, any help, pointing in the right direction, etc will be much appreciated.

    TEXT attributes are different.

You only create the Option Name. Then edit it for the size settings.

Now to add it to the product you pick the Option Name and the Option Value called TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT/FILES ATTRIBUTES ONLY]

One thing that helps is to set up a test site with a test database with the demo products loaded so you can see examples of how many of the features of Zen Cart work.

    Hi,
Newcomer here, playing around with attributes and have some questions.

Background: Australian site with multiple products, some of which come in various sizes (e.g. grams, kilograms). All prices in shop include 10% tax (essential GST) and have all been created with tax class - taxable goods selected. The amount of GST included is shown to the customer at checkout.

My problem is that to get the attribute price, I have to subtract 10% from it - otherwise it displays at a further 10% higher (which makes sense as I have instructed this). Ok, so with heaps more to input and all the subtracting - it will be quite an ordeal. So I think the option may be to have a price offset? (which I haven't grasped the mechanics of yet)

    Could someone enlighten me?
