Better Together Contribution Support Thread

I just installed better together. I am very ignorent when it comes to any type of programming. I have one category named hardware and 3 sub categories that I want buy one get any other of equal or lesser value free from any of those 3 categories.

I added these linkages which I do not know if they are correct:

$this->add_cat_to_cat(4,4,"%", 100);
$this->add_cat_to_cat(6,6,"%", 100);
$this->add_cat_to_cat(5,4,"%", 100);

$this->add_cat_to_cat(4,6,"%", 100);

}

But during step two of check out I do not see any discount. Please help.

Category problems are very common. Here are some things to look at:

Thank you for the link swguy...but I am still very lost. Is my linkage code correct? Each number up there is a sub category to my main category which is hardware.

For example: I got the numbers from the zen cart admin \
Screws=4
washers=5
nuts=6

So I have them all linked. Should this work assuming everything else is correct?

Hi all, I have copied all the better together files into myt server but the Better Together Discount option does not appear under admin->module->order total ..


I want to buy the admin panel as well but I have to fix this part first..
Any idea about this issue??

Are you sure there aren't other issues preventing you from completely loading this page? For example, do you see the page footer in admin->modules->order total (it should say "E-commerce Engine copyright ..." with a link to zen-cart.com). If not, look in the cache folder for error logs.

I had a look at the page and the page load properly even the footer and everything...

I checked all the files again and they are on their own place but still the module does not appear ;(

Any other idea??

It's hard to know what you might have done wrong.

I want to offer a discount on category B if you buy form Categories A,C, or D I think this can be done, but can I exclude a few items from the discount in category B? or would I need to make another category for those items?

There's no easy way in Better Together to exclude specific items in a category.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have master category 5 with sub categories 6 & 7. I want to offer a discount on master category 16 with subs, 24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31
if I use
$this->add_cat_to_cat(5, 16, "%", 10);
no discount is given, but marketing message shows buy from 5 receive 10% off 16.
when I add rules for all subcategory discount is given.
Is this how I need to setup? if so
Can marketing message be tweeked so that it does not list all subcategories?
