Product Description won't switch from WYSIWYG to HTML nor can I edit descriptions

With some products, when I click on the icon to switch between WYSIWYG and the HTML display of the product description, it doesn't do anything.

Also, it won't save any changes you make to the description text in WYSIWYG mode. You can change the WYSIWYG text but when you save it through the Preview step it reverts back to the original text.

The only way I can change the description on those items is to cut the text, put it in an editor, then paste it back into the box as HTML.

This is not happening with every item, just some. No clue what is going on.

The clue is likely to be in what makes one group of products different from the others. But you haven't said anything about the products or even told us which WYSIWYG editor you're using, so it's difficult to see how we can help with this problem.

The problem shows up in the WYSIWYG editor screen that comes with ZenCart 1.3.9h in the admin section. I cannot edit existing descriptions within that editor, but can if I remove all the text and past it into another editor not within ZenCart.

Categories don't seem to matter. Some products in the same category work fine, others do not.

All products with or without this glitch, contain similar HTML that was all created using the same text editor.
None of the descriptions were created WITHIN the ZenCart product description editor window. They were created in another text / html editor then pasted in as HTML. I have been using this method for years with no problems until just recently.

The old archaic HTMLarea edit that came in Zen Cart 1.3.x has been removed in future versions, in favor of allowing you to choose whichever editor you prefer to install for yourself.
Set your default editor to Plain Text (Admin->Configuration->My Store->HTML Editor), and then you can bypass the problems your current editor is giving you.

product descriptions in 1.38a get screwed up for me I tried to set the html editor to defualt to plain text, in the admin/mystore/html editor, but to no avail the wyswyg html editor is default, no matter what... and a very bad one at that, it doesn't convert the accent marks on the multiple languages to the appropriate html.... , so as a result changing or editing the text in spanish screws the accent marks up in the french when saved, editing the french screws up the spanish, editing the english screws both spanish and french ....is there a way to get a better html editor in there with messing up all the work I put into my site.? I have a workaround but its kind of labor intensive, it involved making a separate file for each and every product entry and than each time I edit I can paste in the right html for every language before previewing and updating,.... really circuitous at best.

First and most important is to upgrade from v1.3.8 since it contains numerous serious security flaws which are fixed in newer versions.
