    Hi all

Kobra, can I ask you about this comment "Template switch is not meant for an operating site...."

apart from the extra coding required for building the template is there any technical reasons this could cause problems, eg checkout, creating an account

the reason I ask is I was thinking this maybe another option for building a mobile version of a zen site.

if a mobile browser is detected you could offer the user a "mobile" optimised template of the site, while it might not be a perfect solution is seems simpler than some of the other coding methods I've look at!

I've successfully installed this addon at http://zen.thedjphat.com

My question is this - can I prevent the switch from showing the classic template?

What is in your template.txt file??? Only thpse listed and installed can be switched

NOTE: This is NOT recommended for a live operating site....Ony a development, showcase etc

What I actually mean is - when no cookie is present, I would prefer the site to select the zj_black template, over the classic. I tried removing the "classic" entry, but with no cookie, it seems to default to this.

    --------------------------
    classic
    zj_black
    zj_orange
    zj_silver
    aberdeen_neutral
    ---------------------------

    thedjphat,

Set the template selected in the admin to zj_black and remove from your templates.txt file classic

    Code:
    zj_black
    zj_orange
    zj_silver
    aberdeen_neutral

I'm afraid that didn't work - after removing "classic" from the text, setting the default to zj black, and clearing the cookies, I still wind up with the classic template first.

I'm not that concerned about it anymore, as I've made some modifications to 'classic' to showcase the work.

    Thanks for the great mod!

OK... but what "IF" it was to be on a live site? I have a rather unique idea for one but only if the visitor can switch and still make a purchase.

Sure... it'll just be funny for them - but I think it'd catch on. (at least for my site) What I'd really like to do is - depending on what URL they come in on... switch to that template. :)

Just as a teaser - the sidebox would be labeled, "What are you ?" and the pull-down would be 'Human' or 'Zombie' - since Zombie's need their emergency supplies as well.

    Thanks.

How can I put the switcher in the header instead of sidebox?

    I tried this:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...oxes-to-header
    but no luck

    Thank you

I see no reason why it wouldn't. But why not try it out, it is a simple add on easy to install and remove
