Deleting "New Products for (month)

I put in the "New Products " bar on my store front a long time ago. It goes from one side of the store front to the other.
I want to delete it but have forgot how I installed it in the first place.

I have searched ht Zen Cart book and this forum but find very little on the subject.

Admin/configuration/index listing/show new products on main page. Set to 0.

I was able delete the "new products for (month) bar but all my products have disappeared. What makes a product a "new product" which I can turn off and have the products reappear.

A "new" product is determined by the length of time you specified in configuration/maximum values.
