Check your /cache folder for error log files, and post the contents of the newest one if it isn't clear what it's telling you. Most likely you edited that file with something other than a text editor, and you've added an extra character or line to the bottom of the file.

So you don't have any files in the /cache folder ? If the file is corrupted, it won't work in the non-override folder either.

    I dont think your understanding....

all of my overrides work also my english and spanish.pho files both work with the change made the exact file though when moved to the CUSTOM folder inside of languages stop working and the page doesn't load.

so there is nothing corrupt in the file it works just doesn't work when moved to the other folder as an override.

If you are MOVING the file (ie: taking it AWAY from the CORE folder and putting it into the CUSTOM folder, then there is no longer a CORE file in its CORE folder.

When doing OVER-RIDES, you first COPY the CORE FILE, bringing it onto a LOCAL machine. (NEVER EDIT THE CORE FILE ITSELF)

You then edit that COPY to suit your customisations.

You then FTP that COPY (now your CUSTOM file) to its relevant over-ride folder.

The ORIGINAL, CORE FILE has not been touched, and stays in its CORE folder.

There HAS to be a CORE file in the CORE folder, in addition to an OVER-RIDE file in an OVER-RIDE folder, for the system to work.
