Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)

I am using this without problems, but I only have one drop down attribute group per product ie size / colour eg 12DD Black

If I used size and then colour as two drop down attribute groups, it may be another story.

and for folks NOT using a dropdown attribute it will be another story as this add-on changes ALL attributes to dropdowns.. NOT a desired feature..

As coopco and diva have noted, this version works for strictly limited conditions. If you want only attributes that fit the conditions, it should work for you. Otherwise, it won't. If there was a publicly available version that worked well in v1.5.0, it would be widely known as it is widely desired.

To add on to what Glenn has said, my suggestion is to read through this whole thread (yes the whole thread) so you get a sense of where this version is before installing it on your own store..

Look at the post just before yours... it says the most recent files are on "page 8" (March 12, 2012).

Did that before, it isn't on page 8. As a matter of fact I read through the whole thread and I came across a download link (can't remember where exactly, though) that yields a file called Stock_by_Attributes_creinold_files_V5.0Beta.zip - but it's one kb large and can't be extracted...

So if anybody has the actual archive I'd be glad if you could tell me where you got it from. I am aware of what has been discussed here and think it should work for what I'm doing.

"Page number" is an unreliable locator, as anyone can set the number of posts per page to a different quantity. For me, it is on page 2; but for everyone, it will be post 54. And being posted on March 17th and not 12th as described doesn't help in finding it:)

Good point.. You are absolutely right.. I usually give specific post numbers knowing this.. I was at work and in a hurry when I posted.. (no excuse) so consider me corrected..

Yes, it did cause a problem. Now, text attributes (initials for monogramming) turn into drop-downs and don't let you key in text and then don't let you move forward because you haven't keyed in text.

Exactly! Which is why simply posting "it works for me" needs to be a FULLY qualified statement when made.. The behavior you described is the same behavior I found in my testing of this particular SBA variant. All attributes "taste like chicken" in that they are ALL turned into dropdown fields on the front-end.. IMHO, this is NOT desired/wanted behavior and (pardon my bluntness) it makes this version of SBA unusable for those shopowners who do use more than dropdown attributes in their stores..
