Coupon Restrictions Alert Messages

Zen Cart 1.5
Created a Coupon, then created

under Categories:
all Categories Deny,
Category AA Allow

Under Products:
Product BB Allow in Category AA (BB cost 25.00)
All other Products in Category AA Deny

Tested Coupon with a Product CC that is in a Denied Category.

Received two different alert messages depending upon different shipping methods chosen (different prices).

Message A : You must spend at least $0.00 to redeem this coupon
Message B : This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart. code

Message B is the correct one.
Why am I getting Message A ?

Minimum amount for coupon is set to 0.0

Do you have 3rd party plugin for this??

I do not see "restrictions"

Go to Coupon Admin
You will see a list of Coupons, assuming you have some.
Over at the right in the shaded box you will see a box labeled Restrictions
Select that...

I am getting the same alert - "You must spend at least US$0.00 to redeem this coupon"

This happens when a customer has a restricted item in the cart.

This alert appears when the customer selects a product from the "Product Restrictions" section. Products under the "Category Restrictions" section correctly brings ups the alert "This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart."

Any advise on correcting this is appreciated.

What are your settings on the Discount Coupon and if you have any Restrictions set, what are those?

The settings are:

Restrictions:
One category restriction and 5 product restrictions, all set to "Deny"

When one of the category restricted products is in the cart, the error is correctly "This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart."

But when there is one of the product restricted products in the cart, and that is the only item in the cart, the error is "You must spend at least US$0.00 to redeem this coupon - WINTER".

This is a very confusing message, and has lost me at least one sale.

The above is not quite correct - SOME of the products in the product restricted section create this confusing error, but not all of them.

2 out of the 5, and these 2 are not in the same category. One of them is priced by attributes, but the other has a set price.

Weird...

So far I am not repeating this error ...

Could you give a really detailed description, perhaps on a categories_id by categories_id and products_id by products_id detail, of how this is setup for your site with a link to your site so we can reconstruct this ...

Meanwhile, check that you have the current v1.5.1 ot_coupon module installed as well as your other files ...

I will try to check this when I get back late tonight and see why this is happening for you if someone else is not able to repeat the problem discover a solution before then ...

It seems that the price of the item is the deciding factor. If the cart is in the $24 - $29 range I get the error "You must spend at least US$0.00 to redeem this coupon".

On my test site, I have restricted the whole product range from using the coupon, and I get this error for products in this price range. With one twist - if the product is priced by attributes, and the default attribute is in this price range, I get the error, but if I select a product where the default attribute is outside of this range, but select an attribute that is in the $24 - $29 range, I get the correct message - "This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart."

This is a very weird problem.

I've got different specials on now - using "Featured Products"

Add 5 of these to the cart, use the code WINTER and you get "You must spend at least US$0.00 to redeem this coupon - WINTER".

If there are 4 in the cart, again with the code WINTER, the message is "This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart."

Just to clarify, this teacup is one of the restricted products for this coupon. The teacup has been discounted in the "Featured Products" section, down to $4.50 each.

This error can be reproduced on a new installation.

1. Create a product with price at $21.95
2. Install Table Rates shipping module with these settings:
   Shipping Table - 25:7.99
   Table Method - item
3. Create a coupon with a 10% reduction
4. Restrict the product in step one from using this coupon
5. Add this item to your cart - only this item
6. Select the table rates for shipping
7. Enter the coupon code from step 3
8. A yellow alert box appears "You must spend at least US$0.00 to redeem this coupon "
