I have double checked tpl_product_info, and tpl_modules_category_icon_display.php, but no luck. The image link does not appear in google tools in /online, so it would seem to be more than a css problem.

Does anything seem to cause this that I am not seeing?
Have you checked the admin setting in admin--configuration--product info page?
