Text on ezPages Missing

Problem I am having is that ezPages show up in the admin and they can be edited and retain the text, but on the frontside of the site, there's nothing there except the title of the ezPage; all of the text that should be there is missing.

There are no logs and no error_logs either.

I've tried converting the dBase over to utf-8 and changed the language and config files charset as well but still get nothing other than the title on the ezPages.

Is the "rest of the page" blank? Or just the center area where the ez-page content should be?

What's the URL where we can see it?

Hey Dr Byte!

I've got this same problem after upgrading to 1.5.4 and have found something that might need a fix.

The problem is that some, but not all, EZ pages are blank in the editor when opened for editing. Any links to those pages simply go to the homepage.

However some pages do work and do have content, so I checked what's different about the working ones. The difference is that the working pages are configured to show somewhere such as the TOC or the footer. The pages that are blank in the editor are not configured to display anywhere.

When I say 'configured to display somewhere' I mean it has at least one green icon in the list of pages in the admin. Any page that only had red icons, has no content. However the content is still present in the database, and so enabling a green icon for the page makes it reappear and also become editable.

Now, the reason that I and probably others, have pages that are not configured with a green icon, is that we are linking to them from elsewhere.. e.g. from a list of links on another EZ page. For example, we have pages of photo albums and pages of documents and other resources. These are not meant to be linked from anywhere else.

Anyhow.. that seems to be the cause of this problem.

FYI, I also had a similar problem with category descriptions but couldn't figure it out, so I just copied and pasted descriptions from a backup.

Oh and it's not entirely fixed by enabling a green icon for a blank ez page. That does make the page display on the website instead of just redirect to home, but it remains blank in the editor... argh.

I'll go back to copying and pasting from the old site.

Note that although the editor doesn't display the existing content for the page, it does let new content be inserted and saved and displayed.

So there are two issues... one is that pages without green icons are now redirected to home instead of displayed. The second problem is the missing content when edited.. this is identical to what happened with category descriptions after the 1.5.4. upgrade.

No errors are logged.
