Default Listing items in the Paypal invoice

I had posted in another thread but realized it was about add-ons, and i do not use add-ons for invoices.

I installed zencart 5 years ago and never thought much about the fact that the Paypal invoice does not list the items. It only says

"All the items in your shopping basket (see details in the store and on your store receipt).
    Item# Creation Cassel Purchase"

I never thought much of it until i am considering using a tagging system for email list (Active Campaign) that takes the information from Paypal to tag users with whatever products they are purchasing. This would allow me to send promotional emails but only to those who might not have bought a particular item, or similarly, send something to those who specifically bought a particular product (maybe a product update, maybe a matching product, etc.)

So, i am not sure if there is something i should do or change or maybe even forgot to set up in order to get the list of items purchased.
I am using paypal express checkout.

Any idea? (or refer me to another thread?)

    Thanks

No you did not miss anything - that is the default
I see no plugin to alter this
Why not query your ZenCart database on orders
    You might also require
    https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=9
    or
    https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=155

Thanks. I'll have someone check that (that is starting to sound like foreign language).
However, if Active Campaign tags based on Paypal and not on zencart, it might not work.
Anyways, i'll have to check and i thank you for the information that it was not a setting that i missed all those years.

Are you saying that when you login to PayPal and click on a transaction that the information provided is vague at that point? Or are we talking about the email that is received from PayPal upon completion of the transaction?

If not mistaken the other thread in which this was discussed identified a solution to having only the above text displayed. One solution was (it seems) to activate the Order Totals sub-total (ot_subtotal) from the admin panel... (modules->Order total->sub-total).

After that point, then product name, attributes, etc.. appear in the order information at Paypal and in the order receipt.

I didn't follow the instructions in the other thread because, since it was posted in the Add-on section, i assumed it had to do with some add-ons that i was not using. But if the instructions there are for anyone, without any extra modules, then, of course, i will check that (and tell my tech guy to do it).

This is what i get when i check directly into Paypal (now):
    Description:
All the items in your shopping basket (see details in the store and on your store receipt).

And i get the exact same phrase when i get the invoice in an email.

Sometimes it is pick and choose about what applies to which aspect. Seems there is also an assumption that everyone and every post is pure to the topic originally entered when starting the post. Unfortunately it is not always the case, and what someone thinks is the cause can be found to be something else... I didn't go back and reread all of the pages but working from the back forward (from your message) the problem and solution appeared available within the first two pages (again working backwards).

Okay, thanks, since I have never disabled the sub-total option that I can recall during a purchase action, I don't recall ever seeing that "response" which is why I couldn't find that being a "problem" on my side...

As to the intent of sending messages based on who has or has not purchased product, I think that one or more of the plugins that kobra suggested may help with that... There is also a sort of email "sorting/filter" system that can be applied to various chosen options. Requires a SQL command to setup the "rule", but once setup you can email customers based on various conditions. So much time since buying item X, People that have never purchased item Y, previous customers that have item Z still in their cart... All sorts of situations and all from within ZC rather than paypal. But if you have multiple "outlets" feeding your PayPal then that may be your best location from which to focus on the emails...
