edit orders in admin

I am using version 1.5.4.

When I choose an order in admin, there is a button on the right hand side that says edit. I click on this and it just goes to the customer order. I cannot edit anything.

Is there a reason this button is there? Have I missed something in setup?

I suppose "edit" may be a bit too generic a word, since it can be interpreted multiple ways. In the case of ZC v1.x it refers to editing the order's "status" (ie: you can add comments, change the status from "Processing" to "Shipped", etc).

To add the ability to edit complete order details (line items, prices, shipping methods), add the Edit Orders plugin, preferably after first upgrading to the latest version of Zen Cart.
Remember: editing an order's contents might mean the payment needs to change, which means you then need to handle collecting more money or refunding part of the order ... which are things you may have to do separately in your payment gateway's terminal/website.
