We are having major issues with purchasing and inventory management. Part of the solution will be to support SKUs properly within Zen Cart, but that won't go far enough. We currently have some 3000 Zen Cart products, and I estimate it's about 15,000 SKUs. Part of the solution will be using barcoding, including assigning barcodes to products that don't have them and labelling unlabelled products.
We currently only sell through Zen Cart online. But the option to sell via Amazon and/or eBay is something we'd like to do within a year. DEAR should make this possible.
Our bricks and mortar store is 30% of our business. We don't have POS but would like to have it. DEAR is currently adding this feature, so that could mean less integration points required.
We use Xero for accounting with no integration to Zen Cart. DEAR integrates with Xero.
As fulfilling orders from Zen Cart is 70% of our business, that's the system we use to process orders and communicate with customers.
Since I took over four years ago, the business has grown 600%. (That's not from scratch but from a successful business that started in 2002 and went online in 2006.) Growth online was 40% for the financial year ending 30-Jun-17.
Efficiently handling purchasing and introducing proper inventory control is essential for the business to continue to grow. (We should have done it last year.) It's now the major pain point for the business.
We import some products from manufacturers and sell them under our own brands. We also import and distribute some brands as the local wholesaler. We mostly resell products from local suppliers. Some of them direct ship for us.
Initially we'd probably continue to use Zen Cart for our interface with clients and main business control hub. But maybe this would change if a 3rd party solution like DEAR, properly integrated with Zen Cart and provided a better solution.
Best regards, Lloyd Borrett.
