Google finds my products categories instead of the products page

I've been using Zen cart for a while now and I've noticed a problem in Google when I search for products I have on my site. Google will find the category that the product is in but not the link to the direct product. Most of the time this happens on products that have multiple different versions of the product (different colors, sizes, whatever). Is this a duplicate content problem? Sometimes if I copy and paste an exact products description it will find it in google (may be several pages down) but most of the time it will only find the category.

I have the ultimate SEO's installed so it has canonical links but they all go to the same product, and I don't see a way to make it point to another version of the same product to avoid duplicate content.

I can't use the product attributes to combine the products since I have a file that keeps the inventory updated, and the attributes linking doesn't support that.

Out-of-the-box ZC doesn't offer tracking stock quantity by attribute but there are both free and commercial modules that will support this. For example Stock By Attributes which is currently most up-to-date on github offers the possibility.

Since you're using ZC 1.5.1 and I recently identified some improvements specific to that version that need to be incorporated into the master thread using more concise update points (current modification is a group of changes related to all versions AND ZC 1.5.1) I would recommend going to:

Installation is by uploading/merging the files in the includes and admin directories and then the files in the folder for the applicable ZC version.

My website is www.deserttacticalsolutions.com. Google finds the main page jut fine if you search for "Desert Tactical Solutions". I just have problems with certain products.

I was wrong about the version. It's actually 1.5.0. If I need to upgrade to use the attributes then I'll upgrade as long as that will go a long way toward solving the problem. Is this in fact a duplicate content issue?
