Using multiple shipping modules together?

Hi Zen Gurus!!

Is it possible to use flat rate, per item shipping rules in addition to a table rate?

I've been running ZenCart for a long time but only have minimal coding knowledge. My store operates a table rate for most orders based on the total weight of an order, and I also use the BigRoyalMail module for posting small orders, as this allows me to restrict options for hazardous items (chemicals) forcing the table rate to be used for our carrier.

I'm about to add a range of products to the catalogue, but I need to be able to set just these items with a £19.95 carriage charge instead of using the table rate to calculate the carriage charge based on the items weight. Is this possible using the pre-installed shipping modules or am I going to need to look at using a paid module?

The software is open source so even if can't do it straight out of the box, you could always make changes to the software. Any number of shipping modules can be active and each will show a price associated with what the module accepts. Most customers may want the cheapest method while some will want it there the fastest. Sometimes higher price is considered faster. I somewhat randomly state all those things because a customer may become dissatisfied with a shipment and come back to the store based on what is displayed at checkout.

Figure out what criteria are needed for the desired shipping module and set your product to match those and as necessary adjust your shipping module to only show those product, etc...

You'll need to work with a developer to build something that suits your needs; only one shipping module is used by an unmodified version of Zen Cart.

In a pinch you could add the charge as an attribute.

That would add the 'shipping attribute' at $19.95 with the new products only and complete the checkout without interference or a coder.

It will obviously not show up in various reports or order total filters as shipping module data does.
