A Google search using zen cart could not instantiate mail function brought up a bunch of suggestions and associated solutions.

It would help to know what your current Configuration :: Email settings are.

I was also hoping to read a doc on configuration and in general how email works in zen cart, if it can include and image, etc.
I was missing to set the smtp parameters, point taken.

Yes, the PHP email-transport method can be problematic, depending on how your site's PHP/email is set up. Better to use smtpauth.

Thank you, I made the switch to smtpauth.
Nevertheless, all the setup for email is still problematic, for example, the email for newsletter, what could that be?
I have only one mailbox registered with email provider (Network Solutions), which could act as a catch-all if I set an alias like newsletter@my_site.com.
This will have to be done at the provider level.
There are other issues which I will post in this thread or other.
