Why the Release procedure in admin?

Why can't the client just pay for a Gift Voucher/Certificate and have it e-mailed automatically instead of having to have it released in admin?

Is Ryk missing something obvious again?
(not only am I not a programmer, I'm not retail-experienced...well, not from the shop-keeper side of the counter anyway! )

would suck if the cc used to by the GV was stolen and you have already released the GV and bummer they purchased

But why is that different to buying goods with a stolen card? Surely it's equally traceable because of the unique code applied to the GV?

What if you supply instant downloads and someone elects to pay by Cheque/Money Order - gets sent the Gift Voucher code and uses it before you've got your money?
