    Default Re: Easy Populate support

Hi langer, I just noticed the advanced version is out now. :)

Can you tell how the performance of easypopulate advanced compares to the regular current easypopulate?

I tried the demo on you site, but I found it a bit confusing and wasn't able to import my test file. Do you do things differently to upload products? It said it didn't import products because no category existed, or something like that.
I read something about first importing categories and then products. How is that done, can't you just specify the categories in the same file like in the current standard easypopulate?

Performance is really my issue right now. Now until my host doesn't fix this early excution termination I'm really screwed. I'm limited to splitting files with 300 records. I have about 15000 products. It's taking me hours just to update the prices.
Before performance wasn't that good either compared to the old buggy easypopulate.

So if performance is better on easypopulate advanced I'll get that ASAP. Otherwise, I guess I'll have search for an alternative to do bulk imports and updates.
Something I've thought of, I can use the old buggy easypopulate and easypopulate standard 1.2.5.4. The old buggy version has much better performance and more features, then uninstall that and use easypopulate 1.2.5.4, which fixes errors that might have been created by the old buggy easypopulate.
I know uninstalling/installing between old buggy easy populate and easypopulate 1.2.5.4 seems rather tedious, but it'd actually take less time than it currently takes me to import or update something.

Where do you add dimensions in Zen Cart? Weight is handled by Easy Populate already.

L/W/H are extra columns in the products table when using the CP shipping module, and accessible on the normal product-edit screen for data-entry purposes

so, are you sick of seeing my name here yet ? lol

This one will only confim my densness lol

is there a thicko's guide to using easy populate ? in particular the attributes (i think this is the attributes bit i am stuck on lol) ?

I am doing an online adult store and have a range of products that vary in size and colour etc .. eg: toy, available in 8", 10" and 12" .. the 8 and 10 are available in flesh, black and purple. the 12" is only availble in purple and black. The larger the toy, the greater the price.
also eg: lube, in 200, 500 and 1000ml .. in flavours strawberry, orange and vanilla. the larger the bottle the greater the price ...

how do i set all this up on the excel sheet ?

I went to tools, easy populate and downloaded the full list to edit. I also downloaded the model and attributes one. they both have a column called EOREOR which i am assuming is the attributes bit. do i just put in the various options in there. and will it then show the one 'model number' and all the various options and prices, or am i totally not getting this at all ?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me

    Erica xx
