I appear to have lost files form the bmz_cache directory completely or the permissions are no longer 775 - which they were. I uninstalled FrontPage extensions thinking that it wasn't playing nice with the Linux box the site lives on. But it worked for months - and suddenly it's broken all over the place.

My FTP client doesn't seem to like the Web GUI I get to effect permission changes on the server itself and I am truly at my end with this. Can someone please help me repair Image Handler?

I set the /images and the /bmz_cache folders to 775 and nothing becomes that when I upload a new product image batch to the site. They all become unwritable and I cannot figure out why. GD this is frustrating.

anyone care to login and find out what's going on?

Here's a screenshot of the issue. This shot is of the admin panel side of the problem. whenever the same error appears in the white space above the actual product images within this screenshot, that means that client-side is hosed too. This screenshot shows a product with no client-side consequences, but is still screwed up.

At this point, I cannot use image handler at all on this site - it is simply unusable until this is repaired.

Tim likes to leave the closing ?> out of the file since it's optional and prevents some potential white-space errors that occasionally happen if people edit their files directlyon their webserver or with a junky editor.

Your problems are related to permissions.

If the bmz_cache folder and all its subfolders are not read/write, then IH cannot write to them, thus the image-caching functionality will not work for you.

If your host is configured to reset permissions below 777, then you will keep beating your head against the wall every time it auto-resets things on you.

The notes sc0tt made regarding errors deleting by FTP stem from the fact that when Apache creates the cache files, only Apache can delete them, because Apache owns them ... not you. I believe that's one reason why Tim added the cache-purge feature, so that you can have Apache do the deletes for you.

Granted, if your server is resetting permissions so that Apache cannot write or delete, you're still out of luck.

    Talk to your host.

Thx Doc. Just got off with my hosot and yes, if one (as this customer does) has a shared hosting account, the host will not permit anything to be 777 - so here we are. This is a good note to make for those of us using IH with a shared hosting account. IH, with some hosts, may need dedicated storage and IP.

You will find that our Certified Hosts typically don't have this restriction ...

Well last night my host set things to 775 and it's back to normal today. My support guy said he suspects that the topics addressing Apache/Linux in: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/faq.ph...l&titlesonly=0 are the issue. I don't know what this means well enough, but he said if he changes the owner from my username to httpd - whatever that means - things should repair and work fine.

So last night he did this and it appeared that everything worked again. I check out the site today and I get a pink error header telling me that the /image directory is not writable - YET AGAIN!

I put a call into Sashbox moments ago, but does anyone have any additional feedback for me? Thanks.
