    Default not Valid XHTML 1.0

    Hi,

Does anybody know why my website is giving me a "not Valid XHTML 1.0" error from W3C?

Something to do with cannot generate system identifier for general entity "cPath"

This is for a hyperlink i have for set up via page editor. All looks fine to me!

    Thanks for any help given.

Personally I wouldnt worry about it, certainly your customers wont really care or even know if your site is valid XHTML and most likely they wont even have the foggiest idea what it is.

Well its funny you should say that. I have had two customers contact me and point out that the site does not validate!!

So i thought i would make it valid. Besides it is not much trouble when you keep on top of it.

Plus i have heard search site like google put you higher up the rankings if your code is valid. Do not know if this is true, but do not mind going to the effort.

I have infact made it valid after a few minutes tinkering with the code, thanks to sketchy and there helpful guidance.

Interesting, I guess you must have a link somewhere that makes it easy for them to click and see if it validates?

Two validational check links for customers down in the footer area.

`Congratulations salt3y, nicely done! No more customer complaints and better cross-browser compatibility.

    Hi,

My problem at the time was to do with a "&" in my hyperlink. So i just edited it to be valid HTML. ie "&" (without quotes!)

I found out that this was the mistake by going to: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=referer and they list the errors for you.

I have since been battling with making my site valid again. It seems that every mod/ contribution that i add has validation mistakes in it.

    All part of the fun
