Looking for feedback about what are the best, most used, essential contributions for zen cart.

Suggest you just look at the busiest thread in each of the Contribs forums.

however a lot of the busiest threads seem to be issue related....I was looking for a general list of essential contributions that people liked, so far I have tried about 6 contributions... for me split panel login is up there.

Check downloads page..link at top of page.. shows how
many times each contribution accessed..just allow
for time factor i.e. how long have been on offer

Funny, I asked a variation of this question myself a while back:

I think it's good to rank mods for each site so as to know what is "essential" from a business perspective, and what is mere "enhancement". Some of the "essential" mods I have found are the fax module (for customers who want to call in their cc numbers), Super Orders (for managing orders), User Tracking (for security and customer behavior review), Order Steps (for helping to finalize sales) and SEFU urls (for better indexing and human friendly navigation). I might also throw in Sales Report (for reviewing sales performance).

Some other mods which can still be important enhancements include Quick Updates (for fast modification and review of multiple products), Cross Sell (for upselling items), Zen Cart Light Box (for enhanced product display), Split Login (for easier customer navigation), and Ask A Question (for customer service).

Some other mods, such as FCKeditor, have potential but I haven't unleashed its full power quite yet.

Very true, was following that thread a while back. Just looking at busiest threads tells you nothing about what is essential.

I think the old forum had some sort of ranking system? Wasn't very accurate though.

My own choice for essentials includes most of those above plus: dirbank direct mod (being downunder), comodo trust mod, captcha anti robot, plus I also like the ceon manual card mod.
