Default Copy Products to Additional Category

I have a bunch of products in a category, but want to create duplicates of them in another.

Eg: Category One (products currently available)
Category Two (products that can be Pre-Ordered)

Some of the items in Category One need to be duplicated to Category Two, but I need to be able to edit their information independently (they are not the same item).

Eg: Category One, item one has 4 available, Category Two, item one will have 20 available for pre-order.

Is there a way to do this?

I really don't relish re-creating the 100 odd products again.

    Cheers

Go to Admin > Catalog > Categories/Products and navigate down until you have a list of products including some you want to duplicate.

Then click on the copy button (a blue circle with a white c) and in the pane to the right select the category to which you want to copy the product and the duplicate radio button.

So if I have 60+ products I have to do each one individually?

Surely there is an easier way of mass-duplicating products, or even an entire Category?

    Thanks for the info, though!

There's a mod called Easy Populate that will allow you to export your products to a spreadsheet and then re-import them once you have duplicated the ones you want to base new products one.
