Just delete all the EasyPopulate files you uploaded, EP does not alter the DB.

I have many many item names and descriptions which use the single " to represent inches. When I export from EP everything looks good. When I import to excel, it looks good. When I go to save the file as TAB delimited from excel, excel want to add extra quotes.

I could have sworn there was a way to export TAB delimited text and NOT put strings in quotes, but cannot seem to find it.

Using excel on the mac.

Any suggestions?

If you use Open Office you can save to a csv file with a Text Delimiter ' rather than ", which I think will sort your problem out. You would have to rename the the file extension to a .txt after you have saved the file to upload as OO saves its files as a .csv extension even thou it is a TAB seperated file.

I'm having the same problem. It's putting quote marks around the item titles and extra quote marks around any quote marks meant to be inches. I'm using Excel 2003 on a PC.

AFAIK, Excel will automatically encase strings that contain commas in double-quote marks, presumably to stop the commas being interpreted as delimiters. You could check to see if any commas are present and remove them, but it may well do the same for any string containing a potential delimiter, e.g. a tab, comma, quote etc.

When I enter taxes in easy populate ( germany 19% )
an I upload the list no taxes are shown for my article.

netto and brutto prices = the same

When I enter several categories they are shown like a tree

whats wrong here? how do i link articles to several categories with easy populate?

Recently, I found out that the category manager complains about a

"invalid Master Category ID"

What does it mean?


How can I manage Attributes in Easy Populate?
Are new Attributes created automaticly or do I need to create them before in directly in zencart?

you cannot use an arbitrary file type or format. It must be a tab delimited file, and in the format Easy Populate requires. For more information, read the readme.txt file.

I have installed easy populate since 2006 but to be honor I could never use it and benefit from it as I never get any answer to my question. I tried to unistall it and so, I would like to ask two paradox question: 1- last time my question, and second: how d I ninstall if there is no solution.

description of the fact: I have zen 1.3.7 , I installed easy populate last version. I can easily doanload easy populate files, and may be upload them gain into database. I use persian languages that are like arabic letters; therefore I use utf8-general-ci in phpmyadmin for mysql collation.

problem:
when I add data's from admin pages in persian characters, they are fine visible in admin and in the forntshop. the problem become visible when I look in tables in phpmyadmin or I download the database or by easy populate; all the characters are meaningless symboles. off course if I try to write or add or chage some data's in correct persian characters and upload them to server, these written characters are shwon like question tags; ???? ???? ???

note: I used exce-->l import external data-->tab delimited
any help is really appreciated.

I have been asked to look at a Zen Cart store which uses EP as the owner is having some problems. I did not build the store and although I have built several stores on Zen Cart, I have never employed EP.
The problem is that no categories or products show up in Admin > Categories/Products. Therefore the owner cannot make small adjustments to individual products. Is this the way EP is supposed to work? I suspect not.
I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction so that I can get this resolved for the store owner.

high2K - Down load the Complete tab limited file and open that in Excel or what ever and see what that brings. I would suggest that your customer has not the upload file format right, which is usually the case.
Otherwise the question is does he have any products in the store, or has he not set any Categories/Products up yet, if not just upload a file with EP with the right format as stated in the readme file and hey presto there is products and categories.
