Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

Hi there,

I really don't know what i'm looking for. I've opened the tab delimited file in Excel and it looks OK. I can see that the products do appear in the cart but not in Admin.
I attach a sample of tab delimited .txt file. Would you mind having a look to see if there's anything obvious wrong?

Does need to be set to either:-
0 => Not shown in cart but listed but in database [ Status OFF ]
1 => Shown/Listed in cart [ Status On ]
9 => Delete from the database

I think that may be your problem, other than that I don't think it can be an EP problem there may be other issues elsewhere.

Alright! Getting rather frustrated with this product!

I was able to use EP to update pricing. That worked well. Cool.

HOWEVER: How on earth am I supposed to be able to update/change product descriptions when openoffice and excel export the file in a manner that EP will not load? Namely, they want to encapsulate everything in quotes or single-quotes. Which results in EP not uploading/updating anything.

If there some sort of "best practices" that we are supposed to follow? Is this product constrained to NOT allowing the use of ANY grammaticals in the text field?

Watch the format you are saving the excel/OO file in... this should be as a csv file as I recall

chadderuski - As kobra says watch the format you are saving it in. In OO I have imported e.g 3'' in a description, the format must be Field Delimiter TAB and Text Delimiter " and save as a csv and then rename file ext. to .txt.

problem:
when I add data's from admin pages in persian characters, they are fine visible in admin and in the forntshop. the problem become visible when I look in tables in phpmyadmin or I download the database or by easy populate; all the characters are meaningless symboles. off course if I try to write or add or chage some data's in correct persian characters and upload them to server, these written characters are shwon like question tags; ???? ???? ???

I think this depends on the file format that you open the file with. This would be an advanced option on opening, and you can choose Latin 1, UTF etc. If you choose your file type for your region, I expect it will work.

how d I ninstall if there is no solution.

This is easy - just type at the end of you url in Easy Populate: ?langer=remove
Eg: www.mysite.com/admin/easypopulate?langer=remove

I expected that you would search through this thread!!! for your answers:

Here is the text copied from the install readme that is part of this module - can't get simpler than this - just back up first as this is just good practice for any module.

1) Change the name of the "admin" directory in this package to suit your zencart installation
2) The temp folder is configured to reside in your store directory. If you store is not in the
site root (eg. /mystore/) then the temp directory must also go in this directory.
3) If you want to re-name the uploads (temp) folder, ensure that you configure Easy Populate to
reflect this change after installation
4) Upload all files in their respective directories.
5) Go to Admin -> Tools -> Easy Populate. If prompted to install Easy Populate, click on the
link provided. Otherwise, type in your browser address bar ?langer=install after /easypopulate.php
(eg. YOUR_ADMIN/easypopulate.php?langer=install). If you wish to remove and re-install the default
config settings, type ?langer=remove after /easypopulate.php
(eg. YOUR_ADMIN/easypopulate.php?langer=remove) and begin this step again.
6) Go to Admin -> Configuration -> Easy Populate, and configure the upload directory if you have
changed it from default. Also, ensure that the correct date format is set for your upload files.
7) If this mod gives you more time with your family or friends, and/or less customer headaches, please
consider a donation to [email protected] to ensure this module is continually supported and improved :-)


IMPORTANT!!!

** your temp folder must have owner permissions to read/write/execute (chmod 700) for EP to work.
EP now adjusts this for you (unless you have a windows server - ask your host to adjust permissions on this folder for the IIS web server)
** The temp folder has example downloaded files in it. You may wish to delete these before uploading.
** It is recommended that you download a file 1st and use this as a template for your uploads (install should do this for you..)
** If for some reason the config install fails, you can upload the SQL file provided using Admin -> Tools -> Install SQL Patches

That's it!

how are you?

i sent you an e-mail to the e-mail provided in the txt files in the EP zip file, i hope that you got it because i'm really in need of your help...

i used your EP version, the last one, bug free installation, i installed it in the first time, and i generated the text files, i used the complete one, and then i finished the text i should fill as required, then i uploaded it, i had above 2500 items, it uploaded them, but with one problem is that it missed to insert the picture's name ***.jpg into the product info, so i had many products without pictures, and the rest of information were complete and fine...

i tried to upload the file again and again, but i had some internet problems, and it created some input problems, but i restored my sql backup and its ok...
later on i tried to upload it again, but i face another problem which is new for me

i can't get it, i used the split utility and i splited the file, it gave me 9 files, its ok, i used the first one but with the same result, i tried to uninstall the plugin, but it keeps telling me that the configuration is missed and i need to click here to reinstall them , i reclick and i install them again but no same problems, i reinstalled the whole site with the sql, and then installed the plugin again, but with the same result....!!!???


if you want to log in into my site please help me with it, you will see the files for me in the /temp folder, all the images fopr the products were uploaded into the images directory and ready to be use... what to do


please help me
