    At this point I dont know what to say. you are right this is a mod that is able to put the cart any where you want it w/o compromising the look or feel of you web site. How ever because you are running the thing locally I have not bee able see your final product, I have only been able to guess what you are doing. the only thing that O would point out and also apologize for is maybe my documentation is a bit crap, because you have make you HTML comments wrong every time I have showed you. please review
    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_comment.asp and look At the START/END comments.
    This is not an easy plugin for people who dont understand PHP at all, its not meant to be. but once set up it will make life hella easier for people who are the desingers.
    Please realize that this was developed for a proper team set up of a good code monkey, and a good designer, who does not want to deal w/ PHP. So that thye can update the whole site w/ the dreamweaver template system. Templates we being run from all different directories at the time.

    getting a bit frustrated here. But the fact that you can see the mark up is progress. me means that you have got you path right,

    This is what I cut and pasted from the installation guide for sang_embed 1.1

    <body>
    <div id=”content”>
    <!-- START EMBED -->
    <!-- END EMBED -->
    </div>

    footer
    </body>

    This is installation for sang _ embed:

    INSTALL and SET UP
    ##########_
    this template make it easy to embed zen-cart in to almost any site.
    just make a template w/ you fave html editor be it Dreamweaver or vim, and place
    <!-- START EMBED --> where you want to have the zen cart start to over write code in you template
    and
    place <!-- END EMBED --> where you want it to stop the cart and put your code
    in the embed_config.php located in the common folder
    do a search/ replace for YOUR_TEMPLATE/ the direct location of your template from the php root of your machine.

    It should work form there.

    This is from sang_embed 1.1 install sheet

    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id=”content”>
    <!-- START EMBED -->
    <!-- END EMBED -->
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    I am sorry that I have frustrated you and you are right this is meant for software people who work with this sort of thing and is above my head. So I will leave it at that and for go this like a lot of things in this cart and most open source is it is meant for developer's who have the time to sort out these problems that why the forum is full of people asking for help and can't resolve their problem because most of the helper's can' t explain things in a simple, easy manner. I am glad I don't have that problem with my designs that I do for people who are not engineer's as I would be out of business. I will give you a lot of credit for trying and I am truly sorry for wasting your time. I just did it a simple way I created a link to the cart from her site and I put a return link in the cart a little hokey but it works.

    Thank You

    I've tried reading through this, and I'm not sure exactly I understand where I'm supposed to install it to make this work.

    I have a layout that's pending approval from my client (the temporary url is http://silent-asylum.net/gprf ) and it's a tables layout that is broken up with SSI. Assuming I'm a moron, can anyone tell me where to put the zencart installation (will it still embed if it's in a folder?) and give me moron-friendly step-by-steps? I really appreciate it.

    You can put the zen cart folder any there you want to, if you want to have additional pages, beyond the zen cart pages but dont want to have another index.php you could even install the zen cart in you web root folder.
    What I do and most people do though is install it in a folder called 'catalog', 'shop' or 'cart'.
    as for installing the sang_embed template. I would hugest that you make you self familiar w/ the over rides system that zen cart uses first. you can find a write up on that here.

    Once that you have read and understand that, you can download the sang embed template zip file from here. and follow the read me instructions, and ask any questions that you have regarding it in this thread.

    Don't hold your breath, I don't think anyone outside of Brian21 can do that including the author of the easy embed, doing is one thing making it simple for others to understand and showing examples of it working so we can follow the bouncing ball seems to be one of the discouraging parts of this forum. In MHO Zen cart developer's should require any downloads be proven with a demo site like Dr. Byte's and example code that works for the version of the cart that is intended for, along with the person's who will supply the support and indicate if it's free or cost money. You can spend weeks searching this forum only to find the guy has disappeared or no longer supports his upgrade.
