Where do I find the bit to chnge the link to the google checkout button? I want to use the small button on a coloured background for GB. I have generated the code, but dont know where to put it!
works well, except it still requires customers to login or create an account
is there one that just forwards them to google checkout w/o needing an account or logging in at all?
Looks good but is there a way to add the comment section? when I installed Google checkou and this mod I no longer have a comments section field for customers to add comments or instructions for order... Anyone know how I can fix this?
Yes, I've just realised this - having saved my £40th since the promotion began. I realise what a joy it is to just "add to basket" and then confirm details on the next page, and I'm done.
Google Checkout is like a shopping dream come true (especially for merchants what with NO fees or charges til 2008!). I kept thinking "Shouldn't I have to login to something, or arse around remembering a password, or go through the hell of creating an accoun". No, because by that time, the order confirmed email was already there!
We're obviously going to implement this immediately, but can I get someone to confirm that we're OK to completely bypass the normal Zen checkout with this?
I can answer my own question - I found the demo here. It's SO easy! It really does just allow you to ... buy stuff!
I can see this being the Paypal Killer.
If you want to checkout without creating an account, you can apply the mod decribed below.

Do you Gogo?
Oh yah !
I am having the same problem.
when my customers checkout they see 'checkout' or use google checkout.
I want to make the gco as my main and only checkout option.
how do i do that the most simplistic way ?
Thank you.
I'm using Google Checkout as well, and to be honest I'm on the fence about using it as the only option. I've tried using it as the only option but I keep getting customers emailing asking to pay with paypal.
Frustrating to say the least is the fact that google checkout prides itself on bypassing Zen Cart's create an account feature. This means that the customer isn't placed into our database unless they actually buy something. My problem with that is that we don't have a way to contact them later unless they sign up for the newsletter.
Another problem with the Google Checkout option is that it completely bypasses the checkout page. So if you are using other payment systems the customer doesn't see it unless they missed the big honking google checkout button.
My reasons for wanting to use Google Checkout is simple. We started selling more once we started using gc. I can't say that it's because of GC, only that after the gc merchant logo showed up next to our google base submissions showed up our traffic and sales increased.
Now don't go jumping on the GC bandwagon because I said it increased our sales because to be honest, one or two sales a week isn't that big of a deal. I'm fortunate that I'm also an ebay powerseller so that sales venue pays the bills and keeps me in good standing with Papa Johns Pizza. So if you're doing fine with a different checkout system, don't go changing things because of my sales increase.
Now all I have to figure out is why people aren't buying. I'm getting lots of traffic but not allot of purchases. dadgumit.
