White space above picture, below category

Can anyone help please? I've searched on 'white space' but I can't find the specific answer. When I click on a category from the home page, I am taken to a page that shows a list of products/photos with the category heading above them. I want to reduce or remove the white space between the category heading and the pictures below.

I am using the hack that allows three columns - does this make a difference? Also, I have removed the category description. Perhaps space is still showing where the description used to be?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

It may help if you can post a link to your site. So we can see the exact CSS problem.

Quite possible. One thing you can do is find the id/class tag for the description and style it in the stylesheet with {display: none;}.
