Right on! That's the way it should work. ZenCart gave me the platform to make a contrib, which I give to [whoever] to improve upon and make it work better!

Contribs are difficult to maintain unless they are very simple. They are usually made to satisfy a very specific need, as was the case here. I "generalized" it a bit so that I could release it as a contrib, but to fit your specific needs... you get the idea.

So I'm glad you understand I don't have the time to maintain it, but appreciate the contribution anyway! Thank you.

Has anyone else tried using this mod with the zen-cart and gallery2 interface??

I have installed a newest version zen-cart, a newest version Gallery2, and interfaced them. That is nice, I like it so far for the most part.

The only mod I have installed on the zen-cart is this one, hoping that the photographer can hide the private events from the main page, but share a URL so people can view their wedding pics, etc... it seemed like a good plan - LOL I have the mod on another cart so am familiar with it (it works PERFECTLY there, BTW) and am sure it has been installed/configured correctly.

I suppose the interface between the cart and gallery somehow makes the 'hide' ineffective, though it appears to work in the category edit - icons update, etc...
Can it be that the categories are actually virtual folders and they will not respond to this mod?

If anyone HAS been able to get this to work please let me know so I can continue troubleshooting. For now, I have to assume it is a limitation of the merge.

This mod is awesome!! I love it.. I even figured out how to password protect the categories using htaccess and sefu with access to different users woo

I was wondering though... when I search via the sidebox search the products in the category still show up. It doesnt with advanced search but with the sidebox.. how do I have it not show up in the sidebox search?

I'm quite in a hurry so I didn't have time to flip through the whole topic so hope anyone hasn't asked this yet.

Could it be possible to set all 0 qty products automaticly to hidden? Since we use social bookmarking mod it would be useful to have those products around even though they'd be sold out but still hidden from the menu..

Yes, that's possible. But, of course, just about anything is :)

It would clearly have to be modded and it wouldn't be that simple of a mod but I'm sure you can do it.

Hi,

I just installed this mod on my ZC, which uses the Cherry Zen template. It works to hide the item (I made a Hidden Category, with 1 product in it) from searches and the "new items" listing, but in my Sidebox, the Hidden category is showing with 1 product in it. I tried all variations on the hidecategories setup to no avail, nothing I do seems to take this hidden category out of the sidebox even when I choose the totally hidden option.

If anyone can tell me what I must change to fix this, I'd be very very grateful!!!

Sadly, I think all I can really say is to read the included readme file for instructions. You have to change something in your template probably.

Strangely, I was able to get it to work the proper way (item shows with direct link, but not in the sideboxes, searches, or in new items). But the workaround was strange. I had to first make the category hidden using HideCategories. Then turn the category off completely (giving a red icon). Then go into the category and manually turn on the 2 products in there (green icon). After that, and reloading the page, the category stopped showing up in the CherryZen sidebox and the items don't come up in searches or new products, but they still work for a direct link.
