Stocks by attributes

I uploaded the SQL file from the download via zen admin install sql patches. it successfully created the zen_products_with_attributes_stock module.

but the table zen_products_attributes does exist... i've been using products that have attributes for a while now without problems.

is one of the php files with this module just missing the code that adds the zen_ prefix or something?

just a thought, i have super orders 2.0 installed, could this cause a problem since i know it also updated order php files?

sorry i meant that the SQL file i uploaded in Zen Admin successfully created the
zen_products_with_attributes_stock TABLE, and added all the necessary values to the zen_configuration table. so it must be an error in one of the php files that came with the module i guess?

The SQL that comes with 3.01.1 doesn't use the prefix zen_. That was a bad approach taken in Danielcor's original 3.01 version. So I wonder whether you have downloaded the older version, which has a few minor bugs.

Eitehr way, you should be able to correct this by editing the "zen_" out of the table name in your database.

However, unless you are using Zen Cart 1.3.0, 1.3.0.1 or 1.3.0.2, I wouldn't recommend the Danielcor mod. Stock by Attributes is very sensitive to the version of Zen Cart with which it is paired.

I have heaps of test environments with the mod installed and have never been able to replicate this problem. If somebody has a non-live but publicly accessible Zen Cart with this problem and is prepared to let me poke about behind the scenes (i.e. give me FTP access) I'm rather curious to understand what is going on here too.

I sent him a zip of my test site and he quickly found that I did not overwrite 3 of the files. Admittedly, I tried to go slowly through the mod installation. But, it gets tricky because several of the admin and includes files carry the same name in both folders.

My advice to anyone else out there.... always back up before you drag new files in from a mod and overwrite the existing files. Its easy to lose your place and its tricky to undo. Better yet, work with it first on a standalone server, if you can.

This mod rocks.

i've been reading through this section for over an 2 hours now and i'm trying to figure out this one problem i have, hopefully there is an answer out there.

1. for Products marked with *** are out of stock warning in the shopping cart. instead of having the *** next to the item name i'd like to have the available stock quantity listed.

i seen this somewhere earlier i just don't know where it is.

wahoo! I have it fixed. The trick is to go to the 1.2.7 thread and apply the appropriate changes to the following file:

includes/modules/your template/attributes.php

I'm sorry that I'm slow in getting this, but I see the thread that you are referring to, but I don't understand what I'm supposed to change in the attributes.php file to make the quantity show in the attribute. Thanks for any information that you can provide!

Does anyone know when version 1.4 will come out? I can't release my online store until the stocks is displayed by attribute, so I'm really anxious to make this work.

I think I heard 2008. I doubt you will get a more specific answer than that until the day it is released. Unless of course they revise 2008 to 2009

Also a word of caution. Although the integration of stock by attributes into core code in 1.4 will be a major step forward, it won't suddenly deliver the many additional approaches to setting and displaying stock that are frequently asked for in this thread.

What it will do is make the development of these additional requirements as add-ons much more worthwhile.
