    Default Re: Sophy Blue Template

    Hi,

Actually, it is possible. I did it on my sophy template based site. I changed it to 750x225 or something like that.

I can't remember where I changed it, but it might have been in the stylesheet or in the admin includes. It was one of the first things I modified, and I remember it because I didn't use the template overides - didn't know what I was doing, like most of us when we start.

May I suggest that you use the search tool (tools, developers tool kit) to search for the 750 and you will find the location to make your changes.

After that I had to muck around with padding in the style sheet. search my posts and you might find some further answers on this... it was awhile back. Usually I will post solutions to my own problems if I find them myself.

    Good luck!

Default Trick to change header size

    Hi,

Irony of ironies, I decided to make some changes to my header and had to figure out how to reduce the size again. Here is what I figured out.

Changing the stylesheet.CSS and the Header.php files did not seem to solve the issue. What I did was change the logo size to force the change in spacing. Take a look at my size. The "logo" is actually "blank.gif" which is nothing more than transparant box that forces the header to be the size I want. This is how I created the extra space in the first place I think. Not sure if the stylesheet changes were required or not.

note: by the time you read this, my site may be hosted at http://www.certifiedbattery.ca Check it out there if the link doesn't work.

Also, as I am a notorious hack that knows not what I do, hehe, I can't guarantee that this technique will not create other problems for you (or me) in the future. That said, it seems to work.

    Good luck!

Ughh.... I found documentation on how to change the logo and such for this template, but I am having trouble finding where to do it. I am running XAMPP and there is a copy of this template in there and in the Zen Cart folder on my computer.

Perhaps I didn't install in correctly. All I did was copy the files to the zen folder I thought.

Here are the paths I have:
    C:\xampp\htdocs\store\includes\templates\sophybluegr\
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\SophyBlue-Grey\languages\english\sophybluegr

I appreciate the help and love the template.

    Thanks,
    Valerie

I've never used XAMPP but from your folders I can see this is wrong:
    C:\xampp\htdocs\store\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\
    should be C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr

Let me know how it went...

ok, I changed the folder name. When I downloaded the zipped file, that is how it was named.

The XAMPP is what I was told to install to test the files on my computer??

Here is a listing of the files I have from the zipped file. Sorry if this is just being redundant, but I want to be sure I have it correct and all the files I need to edit in the correct place.

    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr
which has two folders in it: language and templates

    Then the languages folder has:
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\languages
which has two folders in it: english & sophybluegr

    The english folder has:
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\languages\english
    this has one folder: sophybluegr
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\languages\english\sophybluegr
which has: header, index and meta tags php files

    The sophybluegr folder has:
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\languages\sophybluegr
    which has: english.php

    The templates folder has:
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\templates
this has one folder in it: sophybluegr
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\templates\sophybluegr
which has the 5 folders (buttons, css, sideboxes, common & images) along with template_info. php file
The common folder which contains the header and footer php files that I can edit.

Ok, am I missing anything else in this folder or I should be OK to edit??

I've never used XAMPP and I don't want to do a "guess". I can't help you there. I do notice things that might be wrong:

    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\languages
    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\
there shouldn't be any "languages" folder there.

On the other hand, you then should have:
    C:\zencart\includes\languages\sophyblue_gr\english.php
    C:\zencart\includes\languages\english\sophybluegr\

The folder LANGUAGES in NOT in the templates folder, they are parallel folders.

Ok, I deleted the languages folder the wrong spot and spot the folders in where you said they should be.

    C:\zencart\includes\templates\sophyblue gr\
there shouldn't be any "languages" folder there.

On the other hand, you then should have:
    C:\zencart\includes\languages\sophyblue_gr\english .php
    C:\zencart\includes\languages\english\sophybluegr\

I am not sure how I installed this template so it screwed up so bad.

Do you think it would be better to delete all and do a clean extract?

(The only reason I am using XAMPP is to test the site on my computer)

    Thanks for the help!

Probably won't need to but if you think that's the way to go, GO FOR IT. Just install it where you have the full copy of zencart files, just like they would go on a server environment, shouldn't go wrong.

After changing those folders and TONS of testing, it is the files in XAMPP that actually change the templates.

Thanks for taking the time to help me.... (but I am sure I will be having more questions.)
