Help! Totally confused about Paypal

We have PayPal Express Checkout (rev1.3.8a) already configured w/ the API signature & everything.

What is the difference between that and the other 2 PayPal options below:

1. PayPal IPN (Website Payments Standard)
2. PayPal Website Payments Pro

Can someone please explain these?

Website Payments Standard and Pro are just two different ways to process payment that PayPal offers.

The standard doesn't cost anything, except that the user has to go through a Paypal interface in order to complete their order.

Website Payments Pro allows you to completely integrate with your site, so the user doesn't even know they went through PayPal. However, you have to have a business acount, or there's some kind of monthly charge, I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it's not free. You can find out all about these on their website.

Thanks so much. we ended up signing up for Pro for $30/mo and it's a bit steep but better than having 2 merchant accounts. so far so good...

By the way, i found out that their "Virtual Terminal" rate is always 3.1% and not the 2.9% for shopping cart sales.
