    Default Recover Category and Products?

I was hacked and managed to get back control of my admin. Unfortunately, I accidently deleted a category and all of its products trying to fix what the hacker edited. Is there a way to get the category/products back? Or am I screwed?

Unfortunately, no. Files and database files are not the same.

Well, so I'll know next time, how does one back up the database?

There are many ways: you can download a backup mod in download section
You can backup via cpanel (mysql->phpmyadmin)

If you have cPanel and did a FULL Backup, then Yes, you do have your database. You will have unzip/untar the backup file to find it.

If you use another Control Panel and did a FULL or COMPLETE Backup, perhaps it grabbed your database(s) as well.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, my back up did not back up my products. Luckily I didn't have many products in the category, so didn't take but a few hours to re-enter them. Will start backing up my database though, just in case. Thanks!
