    Default 1.3.7 to 1.3.8 error

    Hi guys!

    I just tried to install the upgrade, and websire is now blank with this:

    1146 Table 'smallpig_paperworks.zen_db_cache' doesn't exist
    in:
    [db_cache table]

    and my admin says this:

    1146 Table 'smallpig_paperworks.zen_db_cache' doesn't exist
    in:
    [db_cache table]
    If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

    is there a way to fix it so I can have my site back up and running?

    Um, how exactly did you "install the upgrade"?
    And, you *did* do it on a test copy of your site first, right?
    And, you *did* do a backup of everything first, right?

    well I was looking at cpanel, and went to fantastico...it said you can upgrade it

    but then I decided not to because there were changes in the language, but I accidently press upgrade by accident when I moved my mouse...

    so no I didnt really try to upgrade, I just did it by accident

    im an idiot i know.

    All I can say is ... I hope you have recent backups so you can put things back to normal.

    I've read here on the forum that using the fantastico upgrade is not advised mainly because it assumes you've never customized anything in your site, and thus wipes out any customizations not done via overrides. I suppose in and of itself that's not entirely bad, but it doesn't update your override files with the required changes, and that's a crucial upgrade step.

    But, since your "upgrade" appears to have destroyed your database, or at least has pointed your site to a non-existent database, I'm guessing that your only option is to restore from backup ... both files and database.

    I hired a consultant to upgrade my site from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8a. The reason for the upgrade was Paypal was not working, I could access paypal, pay with a credit card but the store database was never updated with the orders. In January of 08 I hired a different consultant to create a delivery module. That worked fine with version 1.3.7. The upgrade was installed this w/e and PayPal now works fine but the tax calculation does not work. The tax which should be .67 is showing up as $1.87. The consultant who did the delivery module says that it is the upgrade consultants responsibility to fix the module and the upgrade consultant says the person who did the work on the module should ensure that it works with the upgrade. When this module was first sent to me it did not work because they were developing on 1.3.8. The delivery module has the following note in the file concerning upgrading from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8

    The following lines may need to be commented out/enabled for 1.3.7 and 1.3.8

    /includes/modules/order_total/ot_local_shipping.php

    Lines 142 - 143
    // if ($this->tax_class > 0 && $ld_charge == true) { // For 1.3.8 ?
    if ($this->tax_class > 0) { // For 1.3.7 ?

    Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? The module consultant tells me that for another $150 (on top of the $600 I already paid him) he'll solve the problem.
