Default How to upload additional mp3 music sample

    Hi

using EP 1.2.5.4. for first time. I have downloaded the COMPLETE txt file of the using EP so that I can see the structure in order to upload a some products. each product has a sample of music.
Is there a way of extending the file structure to upload the sample (in the same way I make reference to the image, I want to make reference to the mp3 file)

    Thanks

    John

Hi, I have edited and created a tab delimited text file with a spread sheet.
I pulled the original file via easy update, I get a succesful update, but still the products do not show. is there something I am doing stupid with a path name or file name? is there a default file name that I should be uploading?
my temp directory is in my store directory...laughinghorsephotos.com/catalog/temp where catalog is the zen cart directory. I have read the readme and the install text files and I am at a loss.

here is the process as I did it in sequence:
    1. pulled down the file
    2. Opened the file with MSWOrks spreadsheet.
    3. edited the file to ripple/fill data.
    4. saved the file in tab delimited text file form (at least that is what Works
    claims it's doing)
    5. Uploaded the file via zencart/tools/easypopulate
    6. upload shows as successful, products do not show. only 30 products that were entered manually show.

got a feeling I have missed something really simple here.
    any ideas?

I just installed Easy Populate v1.2.5.4 today, and it looks like I got that right.
No file permissions set yet, so if there are some I have to look out for, please let me know.
I was able to get a copy of my merchandise data onto my local drive and view it with Open Office.
But when I attempted to make a small test of 3 items to upload, no luck . I keep getting the error:
    Warning: explode(): Empty delimiter. in
Where did I go wrong here?

Easy Populate MUST have UNIQUE model number for EVERY product,
    OR it will not work.

I have Easy Populate 1.2.5.5 configured, installed and working in my cart. I would like to add a category (products_condition) to my uploads so it will update my database and display on the individual product pages. I have the field added to my database and I have zen cart configured for the extra field. What would I need to add or change in the admin/easypopulate.php file to get the new category to be recognized and to upload to the database? Also, are there other easy populate files that I need to change to make this work?

I would appreciate any help or direction someone may be able to give.

    Thanks,
    Brad.

I'm a wiz at forcing Excel to behave, so if the tips below don't work feel free to IM me if you're stuck.

It's probably the way you are importing. During the Data import choose "Delimited" instead of fixed-width and on the next tab select "Tab" as your delimiter and de-select all others. If you have tab AND comma or something like that it will be too many cols, but just tabs should come in fine.

if you're trying to get a difficult file to convert in Excel, sometimes this works:

    1) open the file in winword (or ultraedit or some other good text editor)
    2) edit/replace tab (^t in winword) with ~ or % or $ or some char that isn't in your data file. Don't use the winldcards (* or ?)
    3) save the file. Open it in excel. During the convert choose the char you replaced the tabs with as your delimiter.

Default Re: Easy Populate support with UTF8 characters

Hi I have utf problem also.. N it freaks me out..
My whole db runs in unicode, the admin pages are utf8 encoded, when I export, it exports utf txt files.. When I open I can set to utf8 read encoding.. It shows nice.. When I try to save Xcell I can only choose between "tab-delimited" or "unicode".. There is no separate encoding.. That's one thing.. First I tried the "tab-delimited" option.. Result: after uploading and processing it, all öüóőúéáűí became ????????? characters.. Akay, I thought I just can give a sht n try unicode simply, 'cos I compared with the original exported file, and the tabs seemed to be ok.. But It seems like it didn't processed anything cos the last echo is:

    File uploaded.
    Temporary filename: /var/tmp/phpzIpYsH
    User filename: visszaXP3.txt
    Size: 362636

    Upload Complete

    But no effect..
    Any idea? Thx!

I am confused by your post - my db is in utf8 also, but the whole point of EP is to avoid dealing with sql and php and utf8 etc. Did you post to the wrong place? Are you working in PHPMyAdmin? Frankly, I would LOVE to know the answer to your question because of all the trouble I'm having with EP. I wish I knew how to export/import directly into a MySql db!

    Good luck to us both...
