I dont want the model field to show up anywhere-- in sorts, searches or, most importantly the invoice. Isn't there a way that i can just get rid of that field all together??

Not sure if this will do the trick or not but....
Log into your site as admin, go under configuration and then product listing, choose display product model and change the 1 to a 0. Then stick out your tongue at a 33 1/3 degree angle, hop on your left foot twice and then spin four times counter-clockwise, then click on update.
Try that in all your transactions (from start to invoice) and if that does not do it, I am sure someone else will post back.
Good luck and may the force be with you
Sincerely,

nope- i've had it set like that from day one (2+ yrs). Model still shows up as a sortable column and on the invoice. Having the config set to zeron only removes it from the product description. I just want to delete it altogether.

Can't help with search, but in admin/invoice.php, the model is echo'ed once in line 184 and the heading is defined in line 161.
There are no overrides for admin, so you'll have to save a copy of the edited file for when you upgrade Zencart next.
I looked it up and it was lines 295 and 341, but that's not where the title is actually defined. Meaning, if i change 'Model' to '' (for it to at least show up as a blank title) it does nothing.
My copy of that file only goes to line 272, so...
You might also check admin/includes/languages/english/invoice.php for some more defines.
(And removing the above-mentioned lines from admin/invoice.php does indeed remove all mention of 'Model' from the invoice, including the header.)

oh yeah, thanks! at least i can make it look like there is no model column on the invoice by replacing 'model' with ''
i still want to remove that field though. i will never have any use for it.
