Featured Products display order

I searched on what I thought were reasonable keywords and didn't see anything like my question, so here it is:

We're displaying the Featured Products on the main page, and I'd like to have some control over the order in which our featured products are shown.

In Configuration - Layout Settings, the value of Categories - Always Show on Main Page is zero.

In Configuration - Index Listing:

• the value of Show Featured Products on Main Page is 1, the other 2 similar options (New and Special)are zero.
• the value of Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories is 4.

It's 4 because that seemed to create the display sequence I wanted, but it seems to change the display sequence every time I refresh the page.

Possible values for Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories are 0-4, with 0 meaning "off" and the others specifying a sort order - but what sort order?? What do these numbers mean for the display order?? Help? There seems to be no way to specify a sort order for the items in the Featured Products admin screen.

The Featured Products Centerbox are randomly selected and randomly displayed ...

You would have to customize the module to alter that method ...

So, would the includes/modules/featured_products.php be a good place to start? The featured products sort order mod doesn't seem to work. I would think this would be a more needed function.

Any help would be great! I dont have a clue what I'm looking for on this one.

Are you wanting to change something on the Featured Products Centerbox or the Featured Products Listing ... these are two totally different things ...
