Free shipping to one country only?

Does anyone know how I can offer free shipping to only the USA?

I am using the Free Shipping Options module and specifying free shipping for orders over $75. But the only shipping zones that show up are florida. I want to limit to anywhere in the US.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

You need to create a new 'zone' first. When you create a new zone you then define what states are under it. Add all the US states under this new zone and name it USA. Then in your free shipping module at the bottom of the proprties (right col) you will find a drop down with all your predefined zones. You should select the newly created zone 'USA' which means that this shipping module now works only for this zone. You can then install another shipping module that is never free and should always reflect higher prices than the previous shipping module. In this secondary shipping zone you should leave the zone unselected which means 'everywhere'.

NOTE: be sure to use the Free Shipping Options freeoptions with it set to display when Total >= 0 as Free Shipping freeshipper is designed for specific Free Shipping situations and Zones are not designed to work with that in any manner other than one a code might invent ...

COMMENT: As a developer, we always encounter difficulties setting it up. Linda - thanks for pointing it out. But I think this whole section must be easier to setup and configure, especially to non-developers. This should become a feature request for next versions of Zen Cart. I feel like in general, taxes, shipping, zones, and the payment modules are difficult to setup and hard to understand.

This didn't help, I am still very confused.

I see all the states of the us listed under zones. Yet in the "freeoptions" module, the only zone that appears is "florida". What I really want to do is to limit my free shipping to 48 states excluding AK, HI, GUAM and anything else that would be too expensive to give free shipping away to.

Problem 1 is that my zones done't show up.

Problem 2 is that I need to be able to select only the 48 states that I do want to ship free to and it appears that only one can be chosen even if they did all show up.

You need to build a Zone in the Locations / Taxes ... Zones Definitions ...

Build a zone for:
US Shipping

With all the states that you want to include in it ...

Then, when done, you can add this to the Free Shipping Options freeoptions shipping module ...

Ok, that worked great, thanks..

But now I have another related problem. How can I set up a shipping zone to send everywhere except one zone? Here is what I am trying to accomplish.


All orders over $100 in the lower 48 get Free shipping (this works)

All orders under $100 in the lower 48 get FLAT Rate shipping. this works

All orders outside the lower 48 use UPS shipping module. (On this I am clueless)

I also don't want to show the UPS shipping options to the people that are using flat rate or free shipping. Basically, I don't ever want to show UPS to anyone in the lower 48.

You need to build a Zone for the Rest of the World so that they see the USPS shipping and the 48 do not ...

Are you saying that I have to build a zone and enter every combination of country/province and the remaining states? I would think I would be here for the rest of my life entering this data :) Not to mention the database size when I get done. I must have misunderstood you.. Can you clairify? Remember, I am a NOOB and need some detail.

Might try a search on:
world
rest of the world

Or peek in the Free Downloads ... as I know I, as well as others, have posted the Rest of the World lists where you could probably use it (Backup first) and then update or tweak it a tad ...
