Default Re: Admin-Editable Sidebox - Support Thread

kuroi I have a question related to this thread. Forgive the intrusion if I am doing this incorrectly as this is my first ever post. I have easily installed the editable sidebox without problem or snag. My question is ... Can you or anyone else give me any insight on how to incorporate rokslideshow into the editable sidebox. I have tried several times without success. I think it is the fact I have the inability to incorporate the code into the proper php file or to modify the editable sidebox div tag correctly. I have found no information on this within this thread or in relation to zen cart. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance

I'll try to give you some insight, possibly kuroi will answer too.
Editable Sidebox is not the best mod. to incorporate code, blank sidebox is recommended instead.
What is rokslideshow? certainly not a Zen Cart mod., otherwise it would have its own sidebox.
I have run into incompatibilities myself, as you can see from previous posts, I am now testing if <iframe> can solve these issues, by simply showing inside the sidebox what is happening in an entirely different page.
Can't do much testing though as I just changed webhosts and am still testing for other stuff.
    Hope this helps.

Thank you very much...I overlooked the blank sidebox during my first journey through add on land :). Looks very workable for my needs of a customized addition to my site. Yes I have looked at misty's site in my journey through the forums educating myself into zen cart functions and code. I am using www.datescam.net as a testing site currenty for another site I am building. Just put it up a week ago. I am going to build a slide show using jscript. Have not seen any conflicts published about jscripts and zencart. Have you heard or seen any? Oh well off the post issue. Thanking you again. May B me B zenned. Later Daaby

ckosloff is right about the blank sidebox. The Admin Editable sidebox was intended primarily as a way of adding HTML content via the define pages editor. For adding custom content other ways, the blank sidebox offers a cleaner start and more guidance.

There are no incompatibilitioes between Zen Cart and javascript. Indeed Zen Cart uses javascript and has a sophisticated mechanism for loading it. There's a readme file about it int he docs folder that comes with the Zen Cart release package.

Where problems do sometimes occur they appear to be more about issues integrating javascript directly into php code. This is tricky and not an approach that I would recommend. Better to load it using the Zen Cart mechanism provided and mingle only calls to the functions loaded with the other code.

    @kuroi,
I solved the incompatibility issue of that javascript by putting it in an html page and linking to it with an iframe.
I know it's not in a sidebox now, it is in the main page, but even there, it was breaking the site without the iframe, possibly because of the other javascript running on that page.
I know it is a bad script, there are lots of things that I need to polish, but, what the heck, it works for now.
I think this iframe concept could solve a lot of problems, I'll try to work in putting a slideshow in there, maybe a parallel development to what misty is doing.

    Hi Kuroi
I try to install the Dynamic Sideboxes in your module blank_sidebox
In your mdule only I can put one image, I don´t know how put more and show ramdom.

I seek in the forum a support of the Dynamic Sideboxes module, but the comments are shortly.

This is the url of Dynamic Sideboxes
    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=232

Maybe you can helpme with this module to complement the option that I need.

    Thanks
