Duplicate Customers

Had a return customer create a new user account with identical details (including email address), with the addition of a company name on the new account. Is there any way to:

1. Restrict customer creation to one customer per address

2. Merge the customers so their order history is in one location?

I am new to ZenCart, so apologies if this is something very simple. So far, so good, although I haven't been able to get PayPal Pro working for credit cart payments as of yet, but I haven't put a lot of time into that.

I am interested to see if there is a work around for this. I have customers that create more than 1 account when they forget their password. Thanks.

This is a really old post...but I was wondering if there's an answer. I have a few customers with duplicate accounts...and have even placed orders on both. Is there a way to merge the two?

The qualifier is email address, so the accounts must have different email addresses or checked out with PayPal Express or you have a checkout module installed to allow multiple email addresses.

No real way to combine them.

It can be done but you would really need to be careful ...

1 Backup your database before doing this ...

2 Recheck the database tables in case I missed anything

Note: the field for the customers_id may vary but it will start with "customer" in most cases ...


You need to change the customer_id from the Customer A to Customer B in the tables ...

address_book
- change customers_id from Customer A to Customer B

coupon_email_track
- first change customers_id_sent from Customer A to Customer B
- then the emailed_to email address from Customer A to Customer B email address

coupon_gv_customer
- combine amounts and remove Customer A to Customer B

coupon_gv_queue
- Change Customer A to Customer B

coupon_redeem_track
- Change Customer A to Customer B

customers
- remove Customer A

customers_basket
- remove Customer A

customers_basket_attributes
- remove Customer A

customers_info
- remove Customer A

orders
- change Customer A to Customer B
- change customers_email_address Customer B email

reviews
- change Customer A to Customer B

I have not attempted this in a long time and you will have to determine if you completed all updates correctly ...

Ajeh, It's been several versions since you posted this...have you merged/tried merging duplicate accounts since then?
