    Hi,

    I'm still quite a neewbie, and would be very grateful if anyone can help.

    I'm running Zen Cart 1.3.7, will the latest version of this work on 1.3.7?

    I'vew gone though the 'readme' file,and have followed all instructions, but cannot get this to work properlyu.

    [FONT=&quot]1. Unzip and upload all new files to your store directory;
    [/FONT]
    [FONT=&quot]I unzipped and got a folder called rss_feed . I uploaded that folder to my root directory, i.e. the same directory as the index.php file. Have I uploaded to the correct place?

    [/FONT][FONT=&quot]2. Go to Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches and install install.sql (don't use upload - use copy/paste to install sql).
    Copied everything from [/FONT][FONT=&quot]install.sql in to '[/FONT][FONT=&quot]Install SQL Patches' and received no errors.

    [/FONT] 3. Go to Admin>Configuration>RSS Feed and setting up your RSS Feed configuration;
    It is there under Admin>Configuration>RSS Feed and I have setup configurations.

    4. You can add to html_header.php somewhere beetwen <head> and </head> tags:
    [FONT=&quot]<?php echo rss_feed_link_alternate(); // RSS Feed ?>[/FONT]
    To start with, when you refer to html_header.php , is it to the following file? includes>templates>template_default>common>html_header.php

    I tried to add the string to different areas between <head> and </head> tags, i.e. right after <head> tag, and just before </head> tag, and the website did not load at all. I the placed it just before the following line, and the website does now load - <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" /> - is this the best place to place it?

    5. You can add to tpl_footer.php or where you want:
    <!--bof RSS Feed -->
    <div id="RSSFeedLink"><?php echo rss_feed_link(RSS_ICON); ?></div>
    <!--eof RSS Feed -->
    When you refer to tpl_footer.php , is it to the following file? includes>templates>template_default>common>tpl_footer.php

    I added the code just before the following, is this the best place? <!--bof-navigation display -->

    The problem I have is that I don't know what to do next. No RSS logo appears in the address bar of Firefox or Internet Explorer, and I cannot see a link anywhere else on any pages of the site. I've tried going to the following page, as suggested, but nothing appears. http://www.cadwyngifts.com/index.php?main_page=rss_feed Where can I access this RSS feed?

    Many Thanks.

    I seem to be getting there, but unfortunately there is now a different issue. I figured out that I needed to copy the content of rss_feed folder into my root folder on the server, and not the actual folder itself. i therefore copied the 'includes' folder in to my root folder. Everything seems to be fine now, and the RSS button does appear on the bottom of the pages (even though it does not appear in the address bar), the problem is I get an error message when I try to access the rss feed - http://www.cadwyngifts.com/rss_feed.html

    Feed Code Error

    Invalid xml declaration.
    Line: 1 Character: 4
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>

    I'm still having the same problem and I don't know where else to look. Here is the Error that I'm getting:

    XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
    Location: http://majortek.com/index.php?main_p...d=new_products
    Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    ^

    When I look at the XML output, Line 1 is empty. I've tried a total uninstall and reinstall, set up the parameters in Admin, and still the same problem. (still works fine under safari)

    Help? And please, not from the Russian guy!

    I think you'll find that 'the Russian Guy' built this mod!!

    I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me with the issue that's affecting me.

    I'm always appreciative when I get help. But his response to my problem was basically, "Fix whatever you broke". That doesn't help me. Like I said, it was working fine and then it stopped. I've looked in html_header.php and tpl_footer.php and I can't seem to find the problem.

    Hello Fellas.

    When validating the RSS Feeds, I am also having the same error:

    "XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity"

    I am using ZC v1.3.8a and everything is working flawlessly. My shared server specs are as follow:

    Server OS: Linux 2.4.21-53.ELsmp
    Database: MySQL 4.1.22-max-log
    HTTP Server: Apache
    PHP Version: 4.3.11 (Zend: 1.3.0)
    PHP Safe Mode: Off
    PHP File Uploads: On
    Max Size: 2M POST Max Size: 8M

    This error is appearing after -right out of the box- installation of the RSS Feeds contribution.

    I checked and rechecked and everything is on its place. Changed the function call to every position in the header between <HEAD> and </HEAD> and even before the HEAD block. It sounds like the typical space before the XML tags, but couldn't find anything.

    If I put the suggested code for the RSS image on the footer, it shows the icon as expected, but feeds are not working.

    Please, if anyone can shed a light on this, it will be greatly appreciated. RSS Feeds are very, very important as a promotion tool. I am sure that everyone will appreciate this nice peace of software working right.

    Best regards,

    Rick

    Hi, Yellow

    I am using same SEOs same as yours, do you know how to make Rss2 & Ultimate SEO worked well with each other?

    On my site www.topalways.com, SEO was enabled, and the .html in Urls were all removed, just like this:
    www.topalways.com/aaa-bbb-cccc/

    After installing Rss2, found the Urls of product name is www.topalways.com/aaa-bbb-cccc
    the problem is that the slash '/' at the end of Url is missing.
    however, image urls is okay.

    Any body know what is the problem? any suggestion is higly appreciated. thanks again.

    Find (line ~383):
    Code:

    HI, Andrew,

    Very strange problem.

    After editing the file includes/class/rss_feed.php by Notepad, or by Wordpad, or by Dreamwaer.., all the rss can not be open, just a blank page in IE7.

    Any idea on this problem?

    UTF-8? Rather, the editors write BOM to beginning of file.

    I talked about this a thousand times - look for extra lines and spaces in the language and other additional files.

    I can suggest a script that searches for similar files. On request by email. All except the American guy majoritywhip.
