Change "add to cart" to Deposit for used vehicle website?

I have a used car site with vehicles ranging from $4000 to $10,000.

The customers cannot buy the vehicle online but I want them to be able to place a $250 deposit on the vehicle.

I don't want to change all the vehicle prices to only $250 as I want to show the original prices.

Is there anyway to do this?

Only way I can think of would be to include the actual price in the product description, and make the 'price' field on each car $250, with text explaining that it's a deposit.

Yes but then I loose all search functions relating to price and also can't use the currency converter etc.

If a car is 4000$ the add an attribute called $250.00 deposit which is minus -3750.00 and hide the text from the attribute's cost by removing it from the language file.

Then edit your language files in checkout to reflect the change.
