    Default Setting up free samples

I am new to Zen Cart and am working on version 1.3.8a. I am trying to set up a system where customers can order a free sample of a product before placing their order. The sample is one piece from a box containing multiple pieces or for larger items a cut piece of that item. They will have to pay a reduced rate of postage and packing for the sample which is then reimbursed when they place a full order with the store.
I have been trying to set up the sample as a product attribute but can not get the pricing to work properly. I've tried it as a factor of the product price, but if I put it at -1 it shows correctly in the admin sector but when I add one to the cart it adds it to the price instead of subtracting giving me double the charge. If I put it at -2 or more it just shows the base product price with no alteration. I am not sure how to sort this out or whether what I am trying to do is impossible. I'm also not sure if it is possible to alter the shipping price and automatically generate a discount coupon for an attribute to make this work.
The alternative is to set up separate sample products for all products and then link them to the originals but I'd rather not do that if possible.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks

Have you an URL to this product that we could perhaps have a peek at to contemplate a few alternatives?

I've only got the one product set up at the moment. The URL is http://mcmh.co.uk/zen-cart/index.php...&products_id=1
    Thanks

You might call your Option Value for Order "Box" or leave as is ... and the Sample as "Free Sample" if you do not charge for it ...

Set the Product Price to 0.00 and set as Priced by Attribute ...

Set the Price for the Attributes as:
    Option Value Name: Box
    Prefix: (leave blank)
    Price: 75.00
Weight: (what ever it is for shipping)
    Sort Order: 10

    Option Value Name: Sample
    Prefix: (leave blank)
    Price: 0.00
Weight: (what ever it is for shipping)
    Sort Order: 20

Now only the Box will get the $75 charge and its shipping and the Sample can be Free with shipping etc.

Glad that this worked for you ...

Still might call it a Free Sample on the Option Values Name ... makes me more interested in getting it ...
