Gift Certificate Help Please

That's what I thought. But the customer says they applied the money. The interesting thing is that their card got charged twice. Once for the remaining balance after the gift certificate amount was applied, and once for the full amount. It's a site I developed, not a site I own, so I'm waiting on the owner to do a test order. And I don't have access to the merchant account to check the transactions. So we'll see.

I have been reading all of the instructions for the gift certificates and have not seen a reply to this:
Item 4 under "How do I sell Gift Certificates? says "When Gift Certificates are purchased, be sure to log into your Admin area and release them if you've configured it to queue them rather than auto-release
How do you configure gift certificates to auto release?

Also, I created gift certificates in microsoft word then turned them in to a fillable pdf. Is there a way to upload it to the site so that the client who purchased the certificate can fill in the recipients information, include the code and send it via email to the recipient?

The parts of this thread I found most relevant to your question about how to configure an "auto-release" of gift certificates would be items #52, 67, 68, and 71.

As to the printable gift certificate, you may find #155 helpful.

Most likely, you have worked these problems out already, since your post was back in mid-June. I am currently pondering similar questions.

Since this thread starts back in the olden days (2006) before ver. 1.3.8a, I am going to post my question in a more recent 2009 thread at "Voiding order authorizations." I do not know how to make that a link for the readers of this thread, sorry.

I'm having an issue with the gift card redemption where if the gift card does not cover the full amount, instead of charging the customer the difference, the gift card is used and the customer is charged the full amount anyway. Anyone know what that's about?

I made a dummy GC purchase, released in queue, logged in as a customer, bought an item more than the gc and applied the gc and this is what I get as a total:

$36.95Sub-Total:

$7.95Flat Rate (USPS Priority):

$0.50IL State Tax:

-$25.00Gift Certificates:

$40.30Total:

The gift card is redeemed, however, its not applied to the order to show the difference in what the customer will owe. Can anyone give me some instructions as to what I'm not doing right?

BTW: When the customer buys with only the gc, it works, but not when they use another method of payment along with the gc.

Make sure you use GIFT-xxxxx . I only had 4 x's and it would not show the shopping cart! About drove me crazy!

I have a question im trying to do a dummy purchase of a gift voucher however the only payment option available for it is paymate and i want to be able to offer internet banking (direct deposit) what do i need to do? They are all activated but only showing paymate.
