The process for renaming the admin folder is clearly spelled out in the FAQ area:
    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=33
I did follow what it said in that article and that when all my problems started. I don't have that file in that location.

"A - Open your admin/includes/configure.php, using a simple text editor like notepad. Change all instances of admin to your chosen new admin folder-name. For maximum security, you may want to consider that new folder name should include numbers and a combination of upper and lower case letters. The longer you make this folder's name the more secure it will be. Make sure you leave all the / intact."

When I follow this step, all I have is a file called "dist-configure.php" it looks exaclty like the one they want me to change, so I did, but it messed everything, but when I put it back, it's still messed up.

I even keep a clean back-up of all my files in a different folder and tried uploading that to my server instead to just use it instead and still can't getin to log in to add inventory. I can go to my site and browse just fine, but can't add inventory... ( www.ptrailerusa.com/Products )

How did you install Zen Cart on your server? The file should be created as part of the install.

Same as many, after all the BS to make the changes the site worked for about 10 days. The renamed admin folder n all did work.

But now all of a sudden for no reason I can't log in.
Just sits there and goes no where when I click login.
All was working just fine a few days ago.

I think its time for an official update and fix of zen, no more backazzwards patches, real fixes.

This has been nothing but a cluster F

Your site won't work if there's not a configure.php file.
But, maybe you set the permissions on the file so low that your FTP program can't see the file? If you use your hosting company's file-manager from their control panel, can you see the file that way?

If you have backups as you say, then why not just use the copy of the /admin/includes/configure.php file from your backups -- make a copy of it, make the edits, upload the changed file to your server.

Sounds like you were probably hacked before you put the security patch in or did the admin rename.
Go back and follow the instructions on recovering from being hacked, as described in the thread where the security patch was posted.

I think I figured that part out, in my online file manager I had the configure.php file, but in my files on my PC where I keep my back-up we hadn't renamed those files liked instructed during the installation of ZenCart. So now I'm stuck as how to fix everything. I have made it so all file names match. Done a clean upload and still nothing. What could I be missing now? Both my site and my login now say "Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™."
Before all of this I was wise enough to make a back up of my database, should I re-install zencart on my server and then upload my database, or is this a bad idea?

That would be as useless as telling you to clean up your stinking attitude.
