I reset the Sort Order and followed the same procedure to add the Manufacturer's side box. It almost seems that that part of the script is NOT there.

The template does not modify any of the sidebox files in any way.

check admin -> catalog -> manufactures and double check that you have set them up.

Check the settings for these:

Manufacturers List - Scroll Box Size/Style
Manufacturers List - Verify Product Exist

make sure you have selected a manufacturer for your product(s)
