    Default Mr. Ms. fields

    Hi

The first complaint from female cusomers to my new site www.letterboxfriendly.co.uk was the form of gender address on the forms and in the e-mail communications. The term Ms. is the issue. I have read old forum posts and zen cart seems to have a ms. philosphy, this is fine by me and I understand their view, but my customers do not (and as we all know the customer is always correct, especially my mother who is definately a Mrs, an issue she would enforce with a wooden spoon)

To the point. Can anyone help me with a workaround where by I take off completely the the Mr. and Ms. in the forms and then have a Dear first name, second name in the subsequent e-mail communications.

so that they read for example

    Dear Joanne Bloggs

I am most stuck on how to deal with the email templates

    many thanks

    Richard

I know you can turn off the salutation in Admin - Configuration - Customer Details. I don't know how that affects the email greeting, though.

The good news is that the upcoming version deals with all this.

(My mother was a strict Mrs. person, too, but I never understood why it was so important. You can call me anything you want to, as long as you send me my stuff.)

appreciate the reply and turning the mr/ms of sets the e-mail communication as Dear first name second name, so problem solved!

I agree on the Ms/Mrs thing, call me what you want too! it is also especially important apparently if you are French.

How long is till the next version now?

    all the best

    Richard

If you have only Mr. and Mrs., then no unmarried women will be able to order from you since there's no form of address for them. Women who insist on Mrs have issues best addressed elsewhere.

I turned it off after a customer (who was a lawyer) complained about not having Mrs. So I told her to put the Mrs. in the first name block with her first name and that seemed to satisfy her.

Being a lawyer, she should know that unless her husband is deceased, she's not Mrs. Mary Smith, she's Mrs. John Smith.

If not being able to use Mrs is a major problem for her, yes, I'd say she has issues.

Sorry to tell you this mum, but apparently you have issues, I'd suggest you just get over it! Get it into your head that the customer is always wrong.

Thankyou Afo I'm starting to get the hang of e-trade now.
